Okay, gals... cross your fingers for me. I found the nicest Angora goats and while I still want some of TX Frannie's when they kid, I have fallen deeply in love with some of Apple Leef Farm's lovely ladies... http://appleleeffarm.com/index.html
Take a look at the pics for their "2006 kids" - I'm hoping to get three of the does...Maggy, Liza and Lilly (not shown). Lilly is white and Liza's twin, and the other two are colored angoras...Aren't they cute???
The only snags in my plan - 1) we aren't actually living on the property yet (but will be just as soon as we get a trailer and can commute each day if necessary); 2) we don't have a guardian animal yet, AND 3) the fencing and goat shelter aren't built yet (but if DH will let me get started, I have the time to do it now.)
SO cross your fingers ladies and hope that this farmer will let me buy the does but pick them up in a few weeks....

Well, I am also preparing my case, so to speak. I've been pricing fencing, portable shelter and materials, and digging through craigslist and freecycle for whatever materials I can find. I've also fielded emails and phone calls regarding travel trailers to help get us down to the property as soon as possible... And by this, I mean, within two weeks!
DH came home for lunch and I presented him with a stack of materials. Now we just have to wait for his decision...

Okay, update... DH, rightfully so, won't agree unless I can find someone to board the does until we can actually move onto the property. Anyone know someone in North Texas who can help me out for a couple of months? I'd pay board and provide their food, etc. and might even be willing to discuss giving them a future kid.
