Check out this site. I asked hubby for stove and fridge for our house. We live in an old farm house and I want to bring the kitchen back to basics. They are modern, but do not look it.

Am I being selfish, it is expensive, but would last a lifetime.

Hmmm... Seems like a good investment to me. They are gorgeous and it doesn't hurt to wish for things. What does hubby think??

Well, you asked, right? It doesn't sound like you demanded that the family do without necessities so you could have this, even though you already have a stove and fridge. That would be selfish, imho. But just saying that you'd really like something, especially something that has lasting value and isn't a whim or anything, isn't at all selfish.

By the way, these are really nice!

Oh, I think they are darling, and if it's something your family can afford, it's not selfish.

Gorgeous. If you can afford it, it is not selfish, especially if it is going to last for a very long time.

a stove and a refrigerator is something the entire family benefits from...it's not just for you.

First let me say...I LOVE the stove and the range!!!! They are wonderful and would make your kitchen look so, so vintage. I guess what is important IMHO is are they fully functional...yes I know they are modern...but will they hold up to the wear and tear? Do they have a good warranty on them? Will you love them 10 years down the road or will you tire of them? Because if they are expensive you might have to live with them for a lifetime. I wanted a set similar to that years ago, never got them, but then again...I never ask for what I truly want...my DH's biggest complaint about me. For the money, I would love to have something like this: http://www.aga-ranges.com/_store/scripts/catlist.asp?idcat=22

I guess I am way, way too practical. I first look at price then at function over appearance.

Now, if you truly love them, and can afford them, and can cook everything you want to cook on them and it won't cause you to be in constant fight mode, then GO FOR IT!!

Georgann- An AGA is at the top of my wish list as well! I just love the six-four series.
MJ- If that is what you really, really want, and your family is in agreement,go for it! :)

Hmm...hubby likes them as well, and says it would take some savings, but that it would be nice.
You got me thinking with the four six series, but the price was still high. They are both functional and yes, there is a warranty. They are expensice, but not much more than a regular kitchen range and fridge. I will be needing to purchase within two years anyway, so that is why I am looking now.....
Thanks for helping me feel not so selfish.

Life is short!! If you can afford it, then go for it. I justify my purchases like that by figuring out how much it would cost a day over say...fifty years!! Then it is only pennies a day! If it makes you look forward to being in the kitchen even more, it is money well spent.

Those are so neat looking and so retro! If you can afford it I definitely would consider them. Hopefully your hubby will let you!

Lehmans.com has a similar series. I'm not sure about the prices. They look really great, but I'm more into sewing than cooking. Now if they make one that prepares it AND cooks it I would pay whatever it takes!!!! GRIN If it's something you enjoy and you can swing it go for it. I don't think it's selfish at all. To me selfish is when it only is for you. This will benefit the whole family.
