Anyone have any books to suggest on consumerism? I am starting to get away from consuming so much, making my own baby wipes and diapers and yogurt to start with, and using canvas bags for my shopping instead of the plastic ones they give you. Any suggestions.

the book Superbaby Food is full of suggestions for not only making your own baby food but making just about anything baby/home related. I wouldn't call it a commentary on consumerism but full of good ideas.

I'd try Voluntary Simplicity by Duane Elgin, Affluenza, Your Money or your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin.

My favorite book on this topic & money is:
Money, It's Not Just for Rich People
by Janine Bolon

The best on consumerism, management, simple life & prosperity.
We bought copies for all of our older children for Christmas.
Enjoy!

I just finished reading "Not Buying It", about a couple who decided to buy nothing but essentails for one year. It's a different take on the subject. Honestly, having read it I would not buy it or recommend buying it, but if you can get it from the library I'd give it a shot. Interesting but not what I expected. I'm sure others with different taste will love it.

Some people search for happiness; others create it.

One of my favorites is "The Simple Living Guide" by Janet Luhrs. It has great ideas, and keeps me inspired!

I bought a book from our library used book sale. It was published by Rodale Press and dealt with cutting back and consuming less. But, I'm not at home to look up the title. Maybe a search of their website would prove useful.
