This is the website of a woman near where I live. Take a look at her cake gallery: http://www.cakesfun.com/
Do any of your farmgirls decorate cakes? This is something I have always wanted to learn to do. But this woman's gallery is really something to take a peak at!!

Yeah I make cakes. Haven't for a while but have all the tools and skills to even make three tier wedding cakes. Just not as much fun to make them professionally as making them for my own family so I don't do it professional, just for fun and as favors to those who can't afford a cake at their wedding. I took classes in my early 20's so when I had kids I could make cool cakes for them. Weird I wasn't even pregnant yet and not for many more years. But I figured if I waited it might be hard to take the professional classes so I did it before I had kids.
have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe my blog http://sunshinescreations.blogspot.com my web stores www.sunshines.etsy.com and http://vintagethreads.etsy.com |

I love to make cakes. I've done it professionally in the Bakerys for years, now I just do it from home. Its awesome if you like creating. Kind of like painting with cake and frosting..the sky is the limit...especially with airbrushing. Enjoy and have fun with it.
My most favorite cake was a 3 tiered cake...sat on top of each other, 3 dif sizes, no separators. the reason it was my favorite, it had 289 hand-created spring flowers,-each petal rolled into a ball and shaped like a petal and formed into various flowers of all shapes, sizes and colors- was made of fondant (kinda like candy) and these flowers cascaded from the top and cascaded down the side of this massive cake. It weighed 60 LBs. Yes, i weighed it...a girl just has to know these things.
You will love cake decorating if you have ever shown defiance with this........"Don't play with your food" We have all heard it. But I never listened... Do You?

I did some theme cakes for b-days: cheeseburger, race car, swimming pool, dino-land, etc but nothing like these cakes. I am strictly a "Mom making her best attempt cake baker"!

I took 3 levels of cake decorating, and made cakes for friends and friends of friends...it wasn't what I wanted to do as a career, though, so I do it for family events and enjoy it much more!

My hubby did my daughters wedding cake for her wedding this summer. It was beautiful!! Poor man got out of the hospital the day before the wedding and went back in the hospital the day after the wedding and still was able to get the cake done. Of course our dear daughter in law was nice enough to actually bake the cake for him the day before and hubby did the decorating the day of the wedding. He has decorated cakes for years for our family. Including our children's birthday cakes. He has made four wedding cakes for family weddings and had planned on my two nieces wedding cakes this summer but had to pass on them due to his health. He has never had formal cake decorating training either but he does a really nice job. He is an artist at heart! I wish I could make cakes like that.

Hey Georgeann, That is what I did for a living before my babies came. My word, it has been 8 years now since I worked in that little catering shop in Knoxville. I still make cakes for my children, friends and I got to make a wedding cake for my cousin and his bride last September. A very fun (and tasty) hobby. Lindy

my dd (14) loves to decorate cake and has even been paid for them already. I haven't ever really done much with it but she seems to have a real knack and also enjoys it.
