Here we go!!! I am so excited to see everyones creations on this theme! It was a tough I know but so happy you wanted to play along! Posting partners.
Mary & Jutta Daizy & Dianna Sherry & Marilyn Marilou and Deborah
Hope you had a wonderful Earth Day weekend and that you are finding AND creating ways of recycling, reusing and repurposing to help cut back on pollutants!
Save our Earth! Thanks everyone!
YES!!!! It is that time again when we gather together to create those awesome little pieces of art called ATC'S!!!! I just love them! A lot sure can be packed into one small 2 1/2 by a 3 1/2 card!
This month April 22nd we are celebrating Earth Day 2018!!! Our focus is on plastics! How can we help our save our beautiful planet? You can help first of all by going to the following site, registering and grabbing your Earth Day kit to help reduce and recycle plastics!
https://www.earthday.org/earthday/toolkits/
SO this month's ATC will focus around Earth day and you may create ANY shaped ATC as long as you stay in the guideline's size and it's theme " Earth Day 2018"!!
I know this can get quite creative so everyone have fun and please share your amazing art?? Our planet NEEDS our help as well so I will make this a TAD bit more challenging!! Recycle! USE what you HAVE on hand ALREADY! NO purchasing any products, no plastic. HOW ABOUT THAT???? lol!
I do hope you will take the challenge and maybe even step out to your local park, beach or even the road you live on and pick up trash for a day or two????
Sign ups until the 22nd, Earth Day! Partners posted the 23rd and mail-outs by the 28th! Maybe you could even include a commitment to what you might do this year to help preserve and save our beautiful planet Earth and it's inhabitants!!
Thank you for joining!!!
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist Trading Cards are 2 1#8260;2 by 3 1#8260;2 inches (64 mm × 89 mm) in size, the same format as modern trading cards (hockey cards or baseball cards). They are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance.[1]

Hay there.
I have never done an ATC but I do love to recycle. I do clean up in my area every week. I am disgusted with the amount of trash that I pick up.
Please add me to the swap ..... I will begin this weekend. Are tucks aloud?

I'm certainly in! I love repurpose-ing (don't know if it is a word! lol) Plastic is a real disaster for the planet! There are still way too much wrapping (cellophane, plastic...) around everything! I have begun a new project with fusing all the grocery plastic bags (any kind would probably works but those are the most common and still are being trashed in parks and such) into a sturdy material that I use as canvas! I have so many others ideas for using those recycled plastic "sheets"! It is a great theme Dianna! |

Hi Daizy! So I happy you have you join us!! You'll do great I KNOW!! Marilou so good to have you join again! I think its awesome that you are making your own canvases oiut pig plastic bags! You rock!! I hate those things! I call them land jellyfish because they are floating EVERYWHERE around us! I wish they would outlaw plastic bags and Styrofoam HERE!!! I've been repurposing and reusing and recycling SO MUCH in the last few years!! My normal trash is down to 2 small 8 gallon bags a week!!! 3 people and 2 indoor pets!! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how you upcycle our feed bags since they won't take them at the recycling center but now I KNOW!!!! I shall make art canvases out of them!!! Thanks for the TERRIFIC idea!!( and for joining as well) :)

Please sign me up to Dianna. Our family recycles everyday as well. I worry about our oceans, we need to protect our fish, dolphins, whales etc. Too many throw there plastics etc on our beautiful beaches and it is not good for our ocean friends. Thank you.

Dianna, hope you feel better soon! I've started to sew cloth grocery bags for a non profit group. It's not much but it's a start.

HAPPY EARTH DAY everyone! little ways to cut back on plastic? 1. BYOB - easy peezy 2. BYOCC- again, easy peezy! 3. By an aluminum straw to carry with you so you don't need the plastic ones. :) 4. When you go the ice cream store, stay away from 'sampling' the various flavors and thus less plastic spoons are trashed. If ya gotta have a taste bring your own unopened box of wooden spoons, the tiny ones, and ask if you can use those in lieu of the plastic. 5. Bring your own container to the rest. for take home food if you go out. 6.Make sure you cut ALL 6 pack circles into small pieces and pop into the recycling bag with your plastic recyclables. 7. REDUCE buying any plastic items as much as you can. Use paper sacks instead of plastic for trash.
Ok, those are just a few small things I myself have done to help make a difference! How about you? Any sage tidbits to offer up???
Thank you SO MUCH Darlene, Deborah, and Jutta for the wishes!!! I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER I could run a marathon ( as soon as my energy level goes back up, lol!)
Partners posted in the morning!!! As usual my brain is gone 90 to nothing with my idea for the ATC! Hope whom ever receives from me, understands my passions! HUGS! Carry on amazing sisters!!!

Glad you are feeling better Dianna!
Sherry I sent you an email to swap addresses.
My Mom passed away last week and we ended up having our family gathering at their house on Earth Day. Thankfully we had just cleaned up the yard the weekend before and the weather was gorgeous and 75 degrees, the Dogwood trees and many other bulbs and flowers were in full bloom and it was a wonderful day enjoying loved ones and the beauty of life on earth.
I had originally planned to help remove Polygonum (Japanese Knotweed) along the Cedar River Trail - it's a noxious weed and spreads like wildfire along the river banks choking out the native vegetation and harming fish habitat. I will reschedule my Earth Day park contribution for the next time our city community services department holds a volunteer day event.
I attempt to reduce my plastic footprint by purchasing foods with minimal packaging, using reusable shopping bags or asking for paper bags, packing my own lunches in oilcloth wraps or reusable containers, carrying reusable water and coffee bottles, using paper bags for yard waste and garbage, buying re-inkable stamp pads, making my own lemonade, gatorade etc from powdered mixes instead of buying it in individual bottles, using re-usable bowl covers for food storage instead of plastic wrap, using paper cups, plates, etc or regular glasses and serving ware instead of plastic stuff when entertaining guests, and using a fabric tablecloth instead of plastic ones for my art tables and picnic tables.
I'm looking forward to this swap!
Cheers! ~ Marilyn
