Hello everyone.
I found this site the other day and I just love it. I am not a true farm girl since I live in Toronto, but I wish I was. I love to do all kinds of crafts, sewing, knitting, embroidery, tatting- and I am slowly trying to teach myself other things. I want to learn how to quilt most of all. I love to bake and would love to have a nice herb garden at some point in my life.
I adore anything from the 1800's and wish I could dress like that everyday and just live that simple life. I love anything to do with Laura Ingalls Wilder as well.
I am 26 and have a nearly 2 and a half year old son named Caden. My husband, Matt, works in advertising here and that is why I am stuck in Toronto, despite not really belonging.
We are hoping to move to Australia and get citizenship in a few years (we lived there for a year and really miss it) but I am working on getting my nursing degree first, before we go.
I am a vegetarian, nearly vegan, though I would probably eat eggs and dairy if I got it from a nice little farm and knew the process was animal friendly.
Other than that, I can't think of much else to say. I have already learned a lot from you all just by reading through the board and I hope to learn a lot more.

Welcome, Kerri -
It sounds like you are most definitely a Farmgirl at Heart, if not in actuality. (Yet!)
You will love the FarmGirl Connection and we will enjoy getting to know you!
What part of Toronto are you in? My Dad and his siblings grew up in the 1920's and 30's in the Don Valley (before the highways) and he still has fond memories of those times. He and my mom are retired near Windsor, Ontario, now.

Welcome Kerri! I would say that you are definitely a farmgirl! It's where your heart is. I just learned to tat last fall, using my great-great grandmother's tatting shuttle! I love it. Doesn't take long to get hooked on it, once you get the hang of that darn "flip"! Glad you found us, and look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Kerri!
Though I already said hi to you on my blog, I wanted to pipe in here too! Wow! You know how to do all kinds of neat crafts. I have to agree with the other ladies - you are definately a farmgirl at heart. There are lots of us on the board here, we may not have that little (or big!) acreage in the country (yet!) but that doesn't mean we're not secretly farmgirls.
Must get to work - hope to hear from you more, -meg

Welcome Keri Being a farmgirl is more on the inside then outside. Sounds like you will fit in and I am sure we will be learning a lot from you too. Enjoy, share often and soon you will be getting that farm you always wanted.

Hi Kerri!
Glad to have another Canadian farmgirl on board! My little sis lives in TO, so I know how "unfarmlike" the big city can be. But you've got the farmgirl spirit - glad to have you on board!

Welcome Kerri! So glad you found us! I know how you feel. My husbands job is in Japan and I am dreaming for the day I can be out in the country on a bit of land with my chickens and milk cow and gardens and orchard!(and who knows what all else! ) I too am vegetarian but am lacto-ovo (was raised vegan) and I LOVE Little House!! The first gift my husband bought me when we got married was the whole series in hard back because my paperback set was sooooooo loved he felt it should be retired ( trust me I still have it though! )and since I LOVE books and LOVE Little House it was such a perfect gift!! I look forward to getting to know you more as I see you around and I hope you enjoy it here even half as much as I have and do! Hugz! Talitha
