I'm finally back home after being gone for 8 days. Jim's surgery went well, he did have a spinal fluid leak, so he had to lay flat for the first 24hrs and had headaches and a fever from it, but he came home today. Lots of pain yet, but that's normal. He's getting around pretty well, but total recovery will be about 3 months yet. we expected a 3-4 day stay, but because of they had a hard time getting the fever down, it became an 8 day stay. Better that though than getting home and having to go back. He was cleared this morning and he was more than ready to come home. I once again want to thank everyone who held him up in prayer. What a blessing you ladies are...thank you. Oh, and I talked with one of Jim's nurses and she's interested in joining our little group here. Her and her husband are ready to start living the country life. I told her she'd get lots of information from all of you. I hope she joins in.

I'm so sorry to hear there were snags in his recovery, but it sounds like he is doing much better, thank Heaven! You both are in my prayers.

I'm so glad you are finally back home. I've always thought home is a much more healing environment than a hospital. I hope your Jim continues to feel better each day. And, you, care-giving takes it's toll. Don't forget to take care of yourself too. Keep us posted on his progress.

Welcome home to both of you! Jim's experience sounds pretty miserable, and I'm sure he's glad the worst is over. Thanks for the update--still praying for you guys!

Tell Jim to follow the doctors' instructions about not getting up right away after a spinal fluid leak. If he says to stay flat, please stay flat. I had a lumbar prick many years ago and made the mistake of getting up to pee (rather than peeing the bed) because my nurses wouldn't bring me a bedpan, and the pain I felt over the next 6 weeks was the worst thing I have EVER EVER endured.
