I've made a couple placemats and some lap quilts from shirts. No patterns were used - I just kind of cut and put together what I thought looked good. That's as much quilting experience as I have.

I have a lot of farm/cow fabric and I would like to make a very simple quilt for our bed. I want to embroidery our farm name and possibly our names on a block in the center. I was thinking of just cutting squares of the farm fabric, but I'm not sure I want it to be quite that simple. Is there a favorite place you quilting farmgirls go to get free quilt block patterns? I was thinking of maybe a barn or cow or milk can, etc. Or do you have a favorite simple block?

Thanks for any help you can give!

Heather, you should look at a book called Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt. It has at least 48 different blocks that are farm themed....I know there's a milk can and a cow. They can either be made in 6 or 12" sizes.

Yes, Debbie - I love Farm Girl Vintage. Great blocks in that book. And QuiltersCache.com is my favorite go-to quilt block site.
