I have a very rusted Dutch oven that is at least fifty years old. Read an article in MJF on how to restore it, so I got a wire brush that attaches to a drill and I am going to restore it and sell it. Love Mary Janes's articles--they are so helpful.

Hi Cindy
This was my project at restoring cast iron. It was a little time consuming but the results was worth it.

I love all my cast iron! I use mine all the time!

Nancy, I like the divided skillet you have! I haven't seen one like that before!

Hi Debbie, I think it is called a scone pan or skillet. I use it for cornbread. Maybe it is also called a cornbread skillet.

Hi Cindy,
I am a bit ashamed I let my pan get so bad but it looks great now.

Wow, that seems like a lot of work. I bought a pan at a yard sale that was a mess. I used one of those silver scrubbies and it cleaned the rust off well then I just seasoned it and now it is everyone's favorite pan to use. lol.

I found out the Dutch oven is from the 1920's and belonged to my dad's parents. It is worth much more than I thought. Maybe I will keep it once I get it restored--will be great for glamping.

I have always loved cast iron. Its about all I use except for a small set of stainless steel pots. Saw scone pans in a couple of stores for $30. Didn't want to spend the money and then my aunt gave me hers not knowing I wanted one. That was a nice surprise. It needs a lot of cleaning up. Wire brush here I come.

You did a fantastic job restoring yours!

Yeah I have this really good book I bought not that long ago. It had a fantastic recipe for restoring cast iron. :)

P.s. Hubby still wipes oil in his skillet and heats it in the oven.

My skillets shine like glass with just a little more effort.
