Well I finally got around to cleaning out and organizing my pantry and fridge! It's so nice to have everything back in it's place and easily accessible. We even took the bottom shelf in the pantry and turned it into a snack shelf for my boys. This way they can reach and grab what they want! I am finally starting to feel better about all the decluttering that I have done. It's very freeing.
Marie, your kitchen cabinet looks great!

Marie, I like tall skinny cabinets they're perfect for a few of this and that. Nothing gets lost in them.
Krista great idea to have a snack shelve that the boys can reach. It's handy and it helps to teach them how much snacks they can have and how often. When my son was in middle school I made him a "pig out" table for the summer and filled it with all kinds of snacks. I was surprised at how well he did with not over eating because he knew when the snacks were gone there wouldn't be anymore until I went shopping again. Taught him how to ration his snacks.

Sara, it really has been working great! I tell them they can only pick out one snack and that's just what they do. Occasionally they stand there for a minute trying to decide which they prefer, but will eventually decide! I love your idea for a pig out table. That will come in handy for me when the boys are older and eating way more than they eat now!

I cleaned out under my master bathroom sink and cleaned the fans in both bathrooms. 2 more things checked off my list! This week I'm hoping to get around to more of my UFOs so I can finish cleaning my craft room.

My status! Lol! My kitchen is now pretty organized. Gifting some pots and such that I don't need. My craft and sewing rooms are a work in progress because somehow I get sidetracked and find something to sew or work on! Anyone else find their self with a 'squirrel' problem? Haha! :-)

Hello Everyone!! So sorry to have not posted in awhile. Things are crazy around here at the moment. . . including 3 major storms. One has passed, the 2nd one is here now and a 3rd one on the way. Makes for a lot of work.
How are all of you coming along with your Nifty Thrifty Challenge? I am happy to report, my living room and kitchen have both received their spring cleaning! Cleared out so much clutter. . . everyone notices as they enter through the back door.
What are you working on now? What have you got done that you haven't shared?

I did my spring cleaning in my family room and dining room.
I also downsized my pantry a bit and cleaned up in there. I still have a bit more to do in there. It is ongoing because everyone is in and out of there a lot.

I need to jump aboard this band wagon. I like your idea of a monthly list Sabrina. I have started on the library room. It is almost done as far as organizing. I am in the process of making bookcase covers for the top of then. So far I have one done and the mantle as well. I only have 4 more to do. The two last things are: coffee table daily and decoration, and a rug that I am making for the entrance to the room. My husband is building me a 6th bookcase for the extra large books and notebooks. That will conclude that room. My plan is one room at a time and plans is to complete my whole house.

I have been super busy over here. I cleaned all the blinds in the house, cleaned and organized my bedroom, cleaned all the carpets upstairs, washed and hung all of baby girls clothes, started making freezer meals, started packing my boys and my to go bags, and bathed my dogs! It's amazing what nesting can do for you! Lol! Glad to see others are doing so well.
Hay there! Hope everyone is well. I have been busy with my desk area. It is being moved to a corner in the great room. I have purchased a nice shelf system and all the files and binders are being transfered to it. My photos & certificates now have a place on the wall. This is a much over due clean up and purge of old stuff and also a chance to review and know where all the important stuff is. I hate moving my desk becoz it's a bit confusing to find things and make a routine again. It had to be moved tho. It was in a room that gets renovated this summer......I will close off that room as best as I can to keep the mess contained. It's always something!!! Hugs.
Hugs and prayers, Daizy #1093 Poor House Farmgirl Chapter {A virtual chapter open to everyone.} A good day is when you find ALL your ear tags! I wonder how my cows would like my Farmgirl apron?? www.poorhouseparadise.blogspot.com
Krista, I remember those days. . . the whole house from attic to basement got cleaned!
Daizy, I know how your feeling about moving your desk. . . then knowing there will be remodeling happening too. If you have an air filer it is always good to run that next to the doorway that leads to the renovation. Helps control the dust and smells.
Yesterday I rearranged my desk to accommodate my paper crafting. That means it came out of the sewing studio, which means it was frustrating. The space at my desk is better and brighter, so that was a plus. Now I discovered I need more storage. . . ugh! LOL! Time to clean out a file cabinet to re-utilize it for my paper crafting needs.
How are the rest of you doing?? Anything new you are doing, repurposing?

Joanna, that's exactly how I feel! But I'm starting to run out of steam! Lol! Luckily I am basically done with the cleaning I wanted done first. The rest can wait for a later date.
Checking in. . . What is your Thrifty New Year looking like so far? Spring is here, what are you working on next? Potting shed? Garage? Barn? Shed? Garden supplies?
I have spring fever pretty good at the moment. ..no outside work for us yet, more snow coming tonight. . .yes, you read that right. 3" yesterday, more tonight, single numbers outside. Looking forward to springs arrival "sometime".

Good morning Joanna, good to hear you are still going strong on spring cleaning.
I'm in the midst of straightening up and weeding out my carport storage room. Because of MS fatigue which slows my reflexes down I have given up driving and turned my carport into another outdoor room. Since I no longer drive and will either be shopping by taxi or going with one of my sisters I have started buying all my paper/plastic goods from Amazon. Also it will cut out whole aisles I won't have to go down so shopping will be easier on me. The large boxes of goods will be stored in carport storage room so I am making room for them. It's handy to my kitchen. First box of 16oz styro-foam cups arrived yesterday.
I already buy all dog food/treats on-line and had to make room for them in guest bathroom where I feed & water Annie.
I have set a rule for myself - something new in - something old out. I have begun learning how to make sourdough mother and bread. I ordered several new bowls and Pyrex baking dishes for bread making so something has to go out of my kitchen cabinets. I will offer them to my sisters first, then friends, and finally give to the Salvation Army.

Hi Sara, Wow, I am impressed! That is wonderful you have turned your carport into another room. Love that idea!
Like you, I shop online for 90% of my needs. Saves time and money, since it is the same as driving to the store, accept it gets delivered to me instead. . . and usually with free shipping
Love your saying too. Although I have pretty much gotten rid of all that I can, so the new is just supplies coming in that are needed.

Sara, love your process and what you decided to do with your carport. I mainly buy clothes online and haven't considered anything else. I should start looking into that. I actually don't even have an Amazon account. My MIL uses it all the time and loves it. I should check it out.
I went through all my magazines and recycled the ones I no longer wanted. Now I need to get out the hot glue gun and do some gluing. We will be getting ready to do some outside spring cleaning here shortly. The weather is really starting to get nice. I'm sorry your still getting snow Joanna. That makes the outside itch even worse!
Hello Everyone! I apologize for being "missing" for so long. I have been holding onto a secret that I could not share until now. We are moving!! Needless to say, cleaning and downsizing has been a big deal for the last few weeks as we prepare for the move shortly.
We will have our keys the first week in June and begin the move. It is 3 1/2 hours south of our current location. Although I will miss our beautiful home here, it is time for a change.
Once we are moved, I will be posting more Thrifty Ideas, many be a couple of fun challenges for our summer?
Hope all of you are doing great and I would love to know how you are doing with your eliminating clutter.
We have moved from Clarksville NH to Dunbarton NH. It was an very long, tiring move. We did it ourselves and it took 11 trips to completely move our home and two businesses. WHEW!!
I am so happy that I started this challenge, it helped to lighten our load tremendously.
Since Summer is officially here. . . it's time for a summer challenge!! Are you up to it?? here is the challenge
Let's get things cleaned up outside! Now is the time to start on one side of the yard and work across to the other, front to back! As you do, anything you no longer "need" or "use" is the target Gather these things up and decide if you will hold a yard sale to sell them or if you will be gifting them to someone else. Yes, I will be doing the same. . . even though we moved, we did take several things with us that we will not be needing after all.
Please post below if you are going to be taking on the Summertime Challenge!
