I've been sitting on this project for quite sometime and I finally feel I can deal with it and do it justice. As our dear friend Patricia (Utah Farmgirl) once told me...choose faith, not fear, so with this post I am indeed doing just that, jumping in feet first!
Here's some background: A few years ago my best friend lost her first baby. She was stillborn and carried to term. It was one of the worst things I've ever experienced as a friend and to this day it haunts me. To say it significantly impacted me would be an understatement. At the time I tried to help my friend, but there wasn't much help available,, I looked for books on this topic and found none, only topics that dealt with grief in general and not specifically about infant loss. I then came up an idea to write an anthology of womens experiences with infant loss, a collection of personal stories. I attended a local event where lost babies were remembered and I spoke to the director/coordinator of Denver Children's Hospital who was a speaker for the event. I explained my idea, and she was extremely supportive saying, " Luanne, you must do this, it will help so many people". So in compiling this book, my hope is to assure women and their families that they are not alone in their pain and to give them hope and consolation in a dark and devastating time in their lives. So here is where I come to you. I am requesting true stories on this topic. If you or someone you know would like to contribute and share your experiences, please e mail me with your stories. I will absolutly guarantee your anonymity. Also, I've gotten permission from MJF to approach you all with this project. Thanks so much and I'm looking forward to your feedback. Big Hugs, Lu
