We are off this afternoon to SD for the weekend. This will prob be our last "big" family trip in CA so we are hitting the zoo and the beach (no Yosemite I guess :(! ). (Tim has manuvers until Mar, then the women's retreat I'm in charge of and then the movers come......). Anybody with any other good cheap ideas?
Blessings,
Holly

| Walk downtown and check out the restaurant's. Lot's of local good dish- check out Kansas City BBQ- where they filmed Top Gun. Also, the Sea village right down the road- you could walk. Beautiful views and interesting little shops. Ride the Seal Mobile, walk down Harbor Drive and look at all the ships from old to modern. Lot's of pressed penny machines around too if you are looking for inexpensive chotsky's. |

If you are down by the harbor, a visit to the Midway. The weather here is supposed to be good until Monday, so enjoy the sunshine and fair weather! You could drive up and visit Julian (that's where I live). Small, old-fashioned apple pie town. Really, our reputation is our apple pie! There are beautiful hikes in Cuyamaca State Park (in Julian area) and at the lake you can rent paddleboats or fish. Balboa Park (downtown) has museums. Reuben H. Fleet Space Museum is great for hands-on stuff with kids. I also like the Natural History and the Timken Art Museum. Have fun. If you get to Julian, look me up. We're the only Crosswhite's in town! | Since you are military, you can get a military discount and/or pass for all the parks in California. Just ask!! Most places even give 10% off if you ask. |

Thanks ladies. We had a nice weekend. Hubbie was free at the zoo - we bought our tickets at the KOA it was a bit cheaper even with the 10% off. The beach was fun of course - lots of shells, rocks and pictures!; Cabrillo NM was packed although the tidepools were way cool, and we went to the Aquarium today in La Jolla as it was pouring rain - that was ok should have saved the $$. Still all in all a nice weekend away.
