The backyard bird count reminded me to mention now is a great time to do some nature crafts with your kids since we are all cooped up! Don't forget to do peanut butter and bird seed pine cones tied with colorful yarn, orange halves spread with peanut butter and bird seed (song birds love the citrus) and hang suet bars if you have them.
Here is a great site with lots of ideas to keep you and the munchkins
busy for all the frozen days to come!

Thank you for the link bramble! I have two old nature craft books that have been put up since the fall. I will get them out and look at them again with a new eye. Thanks for the reminder.

Good idea. On my blog I have a "tutorial" for making nature rubbings and turning them into notecards or a field guide. We always used to do it when we were kids, and it's an easy craft to take along camping, hiking and such.

We have had a lot of snow lately...I am sure a lot of us have, but my kids have been finding lots of animal tracks in the snow and taking digital photos of them. They have had a great time trying to ID the tracks and sitting very still and being very quiet by the windows watching for that animals return.
