For Valentine's Day, we made Lavender Neck Rolls for the teachers. I posted pictures and directions on my Blog. They were so easy to make and are so relaxing!

LOVE the stove and the glimpse of the rags to roses kitchen! Beautiful and I just adore your blog. It is like going home with you to your beautiful Carolina mountains. Have you heard the James Taylor song: Home to Carolina? I think that is the name, but that is the song that goes through my head whenever I read your blog and look at your photos! Thanks for sharing. I lived in North Carolina for 12 years. Both of my daughters where born in Greensboro, NC. I do miss it. Virginia is nice but Caroliner is finer

I love your neck roll idea...so simple...and I have lots of really nice outgrown girls heavy tights lying about. I will have to try this and will have to do the draft dodgers too.
I tried to post on your blog, but forgot my password! LOL

Georgann, thank you for the sweet words! I enjoy your blog too. Oh, yes, I know that JT song very well. It should be my theme song....Carolina on My Mind...that's the one you're thinking of, right?

What a great idea...gotta remember that for my boys' teacher gifting. What a perfect thing for a sweet generous teacher.

Rebekah,
what a terrific idea, I guess I know what tomorrows craft project will be for me,,raid the pantry for rice, rummage through my disposable cups (from my last camping trip) & a quick trip to our local "Nothing over a dollar" store for a pair of tights......

Does anyone know how to make heating pads out of flax or other natural substances? The kind you stick in the microwave to heat up? I am interested in making one.

Kim, I think the concept for a heating pad would be the same as these neck rolls. You could use flax seed instead of rice. You could sew up a case pretty quickly. You might want to use a different essential oil, or none at all. You can put it in the microwave just like you do these neck rolls. My husband has been having knee problems lately, so I put one together for him. That's what he does with it, heats it up in the mic and wraps it around his knee. I used rice and lavender, but flax seed would be just as well. Maybe a minty essential oil would be healing?
