Every gardener knows that under the cloak of winter lies a miracle ... a seed waiting to sprout, a bulb opening to the light, a bud straining to unfurl. And the anticipation nurtures our dream.

That's so true, Libbie. And this is the hardest time of the year for me - it's dark, cold and dreary. But there's a line from a poem by e.e.cummings that gets me through it all(sort of my mantra - I say it over to myself when needed). It's from a poem about the inevitability of the coming of spring:
you and i may not hurry it with a thousand poems my darling but nobody will stop it With All The Policemen In The World (e.e.cummings, 73 Poems)

Yes, indeed, Jo. In fact, Westernhorses posted about the latest threat to bees just today. It was in the 'Across The Fence' thread. I've always had a secret desire to 'keep bees'(sort of my own personal "Secret Life Of Bees"). I hope when I'm ready, there will still be some left to keep.

From December to March, there are for many of us three gardens - the garden outdoors, the garden of pots and bowls in the house, and the garden of the mind's eye. - Katherine S. White
Blessed are those who love the soil,
