For all of you accomplished seamstresses, can you give me a very simplified set of instructions for reverse applique.

This is what I know about it, but I haven't actually done it.

Secure fabric you want to have the applique out of, face up and to the BACK of your base fabric. You can use temporary adhesive (they have easy spray-on stuff) or sew it together at the edges.
Trace the design you want to applique onto the base fabric. Satin-stitch around the edges of the design. Very carefully, cut out the INSIDE of the design, exposing the face of the fabric underneath.
You can trim the outer part of the applique fabric (turn fabric face-down and trim outside of the satin-stitching), or just leave it there.

You know as much as I quilt and sew I have never tried that .
I might from your instructions.
I use the old method.
