I just picked up the second Hobby Farm Home magazine. I emailed them yesterday to ask if/when another issue would come out and they responded within minutes to say that it came out the 27th. of January. Has anyone read it? I can't wait to get home and devour it. It has an article about collecting and cooking food from the wild, refurbishing a cast iron pot, collecting antique textiles, beginning birdwatching and repurposing rainwater.

Was that not the best magazine??? I read EVERY page of it--I hopped on their webpage yesterday, too, but it doesn't look like it's available for subscription yet, right?

I sent them a "good job, get the magazine out" email, so hopefully, maybe if others do the same, they will!!!

I loved that article on the rainwater and the cast iron--how many of those have I ruined or bought thinking I could save?

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.

No, you can't subscribe yet. The person who emailed me said there will be three issues in 07. The other two will come out 5/22 and 9/25.

I just found this yesterday & am thrilled. Great article on cultured milk products to make. This is a great magazine for only it's 2nd issue. I sure hope they keep it up.

I bought it yesterday and have resisted the urge to sit down and read it all at one setting since there won't be another one for several months. I think this second issue is just as wonderful as the premiere issue was!

I just found it "by accident" and loved it! I will have to see if I can come up with the first issue somewhere. Nance in France, would you like me to send you a copy? The refurbishing topic is very similar to our cast iron threads but with pictures! I would be happy to, if you are interested let me know.

I liked it and it was applicable though I am temporarily "ensconsed in suburbia" bordering farmland. How's that for a snappy description? I'll send it to you and you can decide!

I found the Hobby Farms Home magazine a little better suited to me than just Hobby Farms--while I love that one, a farm is rather like a pipe dream for me, and I can read about goats till the cows come home (??) but it still doesn't help me apply learning now....this HFHome really has things that I can do right now!

I agree with Bramble--I have about an acre, but we're in the city, and I could do something with each article.

I can't find a separate website just for Hobby Farm Home. I hope they do have six issues a year. I have really, really loved the first two! I emailed the woman who responded to my original email and asked her about subscribing and told her how much I enjoyed the first two issues. I agree with Jonni about HFH having stuff that's easily usable, no matter where you live.

I just got an email from Sarah Coleman at HFH(boy, she's on the ball!). They aren't set up to take subscriptions yet, but they are now deciding what to do about '08(wow! I still can't decide what to do with 07, and they're on 08!) :D
