Well girls today I spent part of a sweltering afternoon helping my DH repair my combine. I have a John Deer 3300 1973 model combine that I hold dear to my heart. I can't tell you the exileration I feel when she starts up and rumbles to the field to harvest the grain. Last summer DH loaned her out to his "friend" to cut his grain and this "friend" returned it badly damaged and said nothing about it. We started her up to finish cutting our oats and the combine almost caught on fire. This supposed friend has known my DH since childhood but slowly over the years has taken my husbands good nature for granted. It is a sad thing but a learning curve for both of us. I helped Dh turn wrenches to pull the engine to see if it can be repaired. I am hoping I can still use my beloved JD 3300. By the way, what do you girls use to get hands clean from heavy grease?
We use Gojo in our shop. I hope you are able to fix your combine. Don't you hate it when people break your stuff and then hide it? It makes it so much more bearable when they fess up so you can fix it right away.
Found out it will cost 500.00 if not more to repair my trashed combine!!!! I'd like to take all that oil and grease and wipe it on that guy's best shirt! Sorry for venting here but inconsiderate and thankless people get under my skin! I suppose I should adopt Shakespeare's line "Never a borrower nor lender be"... but we were brought up to help others and offer out what we have been blessed with... It is hurtful to be used this way.
Oh ML, so sorry to hear about your combine and your "friend". Any chance if you went and talked to him that he'd help pay for it?
I'd go with the sugar/salt or baking soda to take the grease off your hands. I use my body scrub which is olive oil and salt/sugar to take most of my gunk off but I'm usually not "that" dirty.
