For all of you that are bored with the treadmill. I have found a new exercise that doesn't feel like exercise. My 16 year old daughter bought a video game called Dance Dance Revolution (DDR). It came with a floor pad that has directional arrows. You watch the TV screen and step on the arrows at the same time. It doesn't take long to get the hang of and it is sooooo fun! I love that thing, I think more than she does. Most of the beginner routines are low impact but you can make it hard if you want. The one problem is that you don't realize you're working out. I used it for 3 hours yesterday and would have for longer had my calves not been burning. Anyway if you like to dance and are looking to spice up your exercise. Try this! They should be marketing this thing as a weight loss aid as well as for teens. Oh, and it does have a workout mode that will keep up with your calories. If any of you have already used it let me know. |

I have used this as a form of exercise. It is alot of fun. It also has a program in the game for exercise mode. You put in your weight and all that and it will keep track of your workouts and calories burned. It is alot of fun, but can only be used with a video game setup, such as XBOX or Playstation, etc.

We first tried it at a post season baseball party, someone's sister brought it. After a little while the kids were challenging the adults and we had a hard time keeping up! This thing is fun and a real challenge! I thought the same thing about adult exercise, but also thought "Finally, a video game that gets them up and moving"...Hooray!

I am a leader of youth at church (12 and 13 year old girls) and they talk about it all the time. We don't do video games..but oldest daughter (who is 12) has played it at a friends house and loved it. Sounds like fun.

We have this too. My DD's love it. It really is a game that a lot of teens are playing now at home & it is even at arcades. I like it too because they are exercising & having fun doing it. It doesn't feel like exercise. If kids are going to be inside anyway, I would rather them play that video game than another or just sitting watching tv or on the computer. I even get on there & play, but you are right, your shins & calves start to hurt after awhile.

Heh. I first saw DDR on an episode of Ugly Betty earlier this season! :-) Looks like fun!
I have another exercise recommendation, and it's FREE! The website www.yogatoday.com has daily one-hour yoga classes taught by trained instructors. I've done a few of the classes and they really are fantastic! (I used to belong to a yoga studio, but it just became too expensive. Now I belong to my local Y and take classes there, along with all the other great things they offer!) Anyway, re: the website, if you don't mind sitting through a few minutes of commercials at the beginning, the class that follows is uninterrupted. And, you can either watch the video streaming or download it to watch over and over. Pretty cool! |

Is this that dance-step like thing the Japanese have had for years? It's been really popular, it has a floor pad or the fancy ones have several squares that light up, and you step on the ones that light up in keeping with the video screen. It looks pretty fun. |

I tried to buy it today because my hubby has a PS2 and it was on sale at target. The only box they had at target had already been opened. It looked like everything was there but they don't take returns unless the package is unopened. Circuit City was sold out. I'm definatly checking Wal-mart when we go to Little Rock tomorrow.
Jewelry, art, baskets, etc.
