I just wanted to let everyone buying birds/eggs know that:

I got my paperwork from the state vet with my dealer permit, with it was included an address form that I am to LOG my CUSTOMERS DATA and send to them quarterly.

They want your name, address, phone number, what you bought, how many and when. Now, they asked for this last year and I called them up and pitched a fit. I refused. This year we get this handy form and a letter congratulating us on our cooperation.

I will not send this in. This is a subversion of what the NPIP program was supposed to do for the poultry hobbists.

At the very least, if you plan to order chicks or eggs this year I would ask if THEY are going to comply with this request, because I highly doubt Minnesota is the only one doing this.

We're sneaking a neighbor rooster on to our farm so we have new blood in our flock.

Each year, I'm liking my "Illinoi Mud Hens" more and more.

Jenny,
Some dual purpose breeds are great for raising for meat.
