Hi, Everyone. I surely hope I am in the write (right!) place! I'm not too computer savey. Posted (my first) a DANGER! STARCHED FLOORS!! item, the responders told me to go to Welcome Wagon and tell on myself, I mean tell ABOUT myself!...ahem!... and here I am! If I suddenly disappear off the screen here, it will mean I did not survive! I made a post to Crittermama already, but I didn't see it appear here, hmmm. Just don't know.
Anyhoooooo, I love to write, be with my hubby, our four children, love gardening (though have given up in deference to 10 varieties of critters who lay claim to my possessions each spring and summer), canning, sewing, and health care. Also God. Named Him last, but He's not least by any means. And I clean my house once in a while. Grew up on a farm in Minnesota, Alexandria to be exact. Great farming and fishing country. Met my hubby in a head on crash in a church, and we haven't been able to untangle since then, so we're still hitched. I work 40 hours a week at Wal Mart, lawn and garden department. Give me a holler if you feel like it, I already am in love with everyone I've "met" so far. So email, post, whatever. Oh, before I sign off, you might like to know I am 75 years young, have been married to the same guy 55 years (he's my favorite husband, and ONLY I might add! ha! He calls ME his first wife!), have 6 great grandkids,8 grandkids, l husband, etc. Oldest child, son in South Bend, Indiana tinkering as an engineer in a factory - what he loves; the next in the Dakotas, retired from military and studying to be a maritime lawyer; next is daughter, in Chicago, fully - almost - recovered from a ditching by a first and longtime hubby - going for it as a dental assistant; and the babe, now 41, in Homer Alaska with her husband building their own steel hulled 47 foot long ocean going research vessel and living in a little 8 X 12 'house' that they live in right there in the shipyard! Hey! Went up to see her one time in the wilderness, mid winter, McCarthy, Alaska. Snow bound, 38 below when the bush plane flew me in. Trucked 3 1/2 miles, walked the rest, 1 mile. No cars, only snowmobiles, dog sleds, skies, and feet. No phone, no electricity, no trains, no running water. Just peace. And chopping wood! And chopping wood. And chopping wood. Getting water next. You get the picture? But ah! Would have returned in a heart beat had my hubby consented! You haven't lived until you've seen those northern lights, climbed a mountain at night by only starlight reflected off the snow, chopped a hole in the creek for your water and drank from its crystal clear glacier liquid, and suited up in the middle of the night when it is 35 below to pay a visit to the outhouse! Try it. You'll like it! This is Lucy signing off! Goodnight, sisters!

May the good Lord take a likin' to ya!

Welcome Lucy!
Sounds like you and your family have a full life and enjoy it too.
Glad you're here, and I hope you share your wisdom with us.
I've been to Alaska about 13 yrs ago. but that was early summer, Homer is beautiful.
Always have thought about going sometime in the winter, but airfare to Anchorage is pricey in the off season, maybe some day.
I know a few couples up there, one that does Christmas vacation on the North Slope!(filling in so people with families can go home for the holidays).
Enjoy the forum!

Welcome Lucy, I've never been to Alaska, but you make it sound both romantic and hard work at the same time...I also like your house cleaning schedule (once in a while). Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hi, Everyone! Glad to hear from so many of you already. Lastnight I stumbled across someone wondering if anyone knows a morning grump. I wrote a small book (more or less - primarily less) relating thereto, and all I can tell you so far is to click on my name here in this forum, I 'm pretty sure that takes you to my 'profile' (trying to be computer savy here! Ahem!), and click on the one relating to "morning grump". It's more on the serious side, but very informative. Don't anyone get the idea I'm a doc or anything near it, but I have taken care of so many people on the home front and "out in the field", that I can get doctors to scratch their ears once in a while. By the way, you all know the daffy-nition of a farmer? You all ready for this? He's/she's someone out standing in their field! Har har hardy har har! Hugs to ya all now, your sis Lucy.

May the good Lord take a likin' to ya!
