Please remember to "Subscribe" to this topic so you don't miss any important information.

This swap is for mini-aprons made in the Hostess/Party theme in design or fabrics. When making aprons for your fellow swappers, please remember to make something that you would like to receive. We love embellishments - buttons, trims, pockets, lace, ruffles, etc, but they are not always necessary depending on the design of the apron. Future themes for this year will be Fall and Christmas. Plan ahead, find fabrics in your stash, and join in when you can. You can always make some mini aprons ahead for these topics when you have spare time. NOTE: They do not all have to be the same - different is fun, too! Use up your scraps and be creative.

Please take a look at the cute aprons from a previous farmgirl mini-apron swap. Read the comments and you will see Grace's collection of mini-aprons here: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?whichpage=0.84&TOPIC_ID=77791#915025

NOTE: There are patterns available for mini-apron ornaments - Simplicity 1957 and Simplicity 2748. There are also free crochet and other mini apron patterns on Pinterest. You can use these or design your own half-aprons or full bib-style aprons. Farmgirls LOVE embellishments!

For all you crocheters, out there, here is a cute adaptable apron some of you may like.

Look down the page. I love the red and white version.

Sign-ups start now: May 31
Sign-ups end: Noon, Friday, June 16
Mail out to Linda by: Friday, July 7

Here are the criteria:
1. You will make a mini apron - either half-apron or full bib-style apron - for each farmgirl who signs up (# depends on signups). Finished apron size is approx. 5" wide and 5-6" long depending on style (Note: my half aprons start at 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and are gathered to a 5" waist) ... not including the ties... ties on each side should be about 6-8"(not incl.waistband) so the aprons can be tied onto an object for display. The bib aprons are about 6-1/2" to 7" long, not counting the neck strap. You might want to add a pocket and tuck a little note inside. You will be getting one of your mini-aprons back. Be sure to sign your mini-aprons.
2. You will send me your set of mini aprons.
3. You will also include a Self-addressed, stamped (with postage stamps) envelope with the same amount of postage as your envelope costs to mail. Include $1.00 cash to cover the cost of extra weight that different trims/aprons might add. NOTE: Depending on how embellished your aprons are compared to the others, postage could be quite a bit more.
4. I will divide up the mini aprons, and mail your mini aprons back to you.

I will list names of those who sign up and let you know the final total before the mailout date!

Let's have some fun with these! You can find many designs on Pinterest or the Internet with the Topic of Hostess Aprons.

Hi to all, I've been out of touch for a while. We are retiring and moving to our land in Oklahoma, Gans, OK. We sold this house and will be on our land @ July 2nd. So I have been traveling back and forth to OK. taking care of paper work etc.
When I can I'm going to join in on the fun and thank you to all who share their love and friendship with me. Kathleen Deem

Kathleen - I've changed the mailout date to July 7. That gives everyone over a month to make them. Can you join in?

Ed told me yesterday we are taking the motorhome out the last week of June and first week of July to make a loop around Lake Michigan. Soooooo - I changed the mailout date to July 7. Gives everyone more time to come up with ideas and beautiful, playful hostess aprons. LOL!

That's my goal this week - finish my party/hostess aprons.

And - several other projects. I'd love to finish my Jubilee skirt (with jeans top). My problem has been finding a pair of jeans that are not too tight already to add a skirt to. I may just have to buy a pair at a thrift shop. LOL! I have some fabric for the skirt - just need the top. Then there is the block for my next small quilting group and for the BOM I have on MJF.

Linda, you really are busy. I hope to sew a bit before Friday. Last week HADLEE and I remade her favorite romper. You know how we mark time...for me it is before chemo...for her it is before her brain tumor. Well she bought this cute romper before tumor, when she was the size of a second grader. She is a young woman now. When we finished it was considerably larger and longer and it was a cute little dress. Funny thing when we started she asked if I could use a seam ripper, and not ruin her romper. Once more I told her yes but I also added that I have been sewing since I was ten. Then I added that I sewed for a sorority, teachers, friends, family and strangers...all before she came into my life. After about five minutes she turned the machine over to me.
Saturday she showed us a machine in Walmart that has more stitches than hers and it is a quilting machine. She may one day be a collector like Linda. LOL
