As a young mother on a very tight budget,,, I always made sure my purchases were in the 'need' not 'want' column... So my baby~girl wore a lot of these when she was little...
I bought them at the Kmart store in town,,, these "peanut suit" as I called them,,, were affordable (cheap to buy) and they had a great multi use as a play suit and swim suit and they laundered up really easy... the perfect Southern California play outfit for a child.
Did anyone else dress their lil tots in these?

My sister and I were the little tots who wore those... and we didn't have the luxury of a snap crotch, the whole thing had to come down. Hahaha We are 62 and 64 now. we loved our 'playsuits,' as we called them here in N.E. Ohio. So many fabrics and colors to choose from.

We called them rompers too here in the Midwest. Having 3 sons, I never had the need to buy one. They were cute and I still see little girls wearing them today.

My daughter wore them too! No snaps either! They were so easy peasy! LOL! Those were the days......

I had one! My mom sewed also and we never had a bunch of anything! Dont remember where it came from but I remember thinking "This is storebought" The tiny fabric shop we had in town did not have a lot of different fabrics. You would see your fabric on a lot of other folks. But, that was a wonderfully safe and gentle time!!

Beth, so true. I remember back in High School... it was the 1st year that we were allowed to wear slacks (not jeans).. and pant suits .... I had sewed a blue matching pants and tunic top... as I was walking down the corridor ... walking toward me is a girl wearing a very similar outfit... go figure... we both made almost identical outfits, fabric and all... yep... when there is only 1 fabric shop in town....
Infact... I remember when Sears stores had a (very) small section devoted to sewing notions and flat folds of fabric... I want to say either JC Pennys did as well...I know Montgomery Wards (and Sears) sold fabric from their catalogs.

I remeber wearing some of these as a little girl! My favorite one was a bright yellow with pink stripes. Oh to be young, free, and careless again!!
