Had a busy and productive weekend. Got the field worked up on saturday, it had been plowed last fall. Then this morning i planted oats. Of course we do have a healthy rock crop this year! Then our last calf finally arrived on saturday, and i got most of my spring weeding done, and mowed some grass to use as mulch on my herbs. Tired but glad it is dry enough to work outside. Oh i also picked up my bees late this afternoon. Hopefully they do well.

Michele, I love oats and have oatmeal for breakfast almost everyday! I am so happy to know that farmers like you are helping to keep the oat supply replenished too.

Great job Michele! You are one amazing farmer. Taking care of your house, farm, livestock, and having a full time outside job. How on earth do you do it all? Best of luck with the bees, hope they thrive. Nice for the rains to stop so you could get the oats in. Maybe the weeds will take a break for awhile? You can only dream!
Enjoy your stunning views up there in the Blue Hills. Try posting a picture when you can of your spring calves, we love seeing them!

The oats I plant are livestock feed. Mostly planted cover crop, seeding a hay field down. Of course I use the straw for bedding. Will be picking rock this weekend.

Maybe you could build a stone fence like they do in Europe with all those rocks! You'll be cutting hay before you know it. Hope you get some helpers for your rock pick.
