So recently I came across a very sweet lil apron at the Thrift,, $1.50 later and it became mine!
After laundering it and ironing it I noticed that it was completely sewn by hand, not machine! And from the looks of the fabric it was either a pillow case or a crib sheet.....
( I smoothed out the gathering so you can see the apron better)

in this one, the seamstress made a caseing at both the waist and bib neckline... and ran the ties right through,,,,

Sewwww what's a MJF gal suppose to do? why re-create one!
I found a Queen size pillowcase for $1.00 brought it home, laundered and ironed it,,, then preceeded to cut it up... unfortunately I ran short of time so I will have to wait till tomorrow to sew it.

pillowcase ready for cutting,,, I cut open the seamed edge first.

I measured and cut both the length and what will become the bib,,, then I cut 2 pc for the ties and 1 piece for the neckband...

this is what it kind of will look like.
I will make casings to run the ties and the neck band through... and I will have an instant, well almost instant pillow case apron in sweet pastel,,, just in time for Easter cooking and baking...

Well here it is....

it doesn't show well,,, but the colors really are pretty in pastel Spring colors...

this is the back side,,, so you can see what I meant by the casing for the ties to go through.

I decided to not make a casing around the neck,,, but rather I just stitched the tie on and made a loop at the other end for the tie to run through.

This really was an easy project especially with the pillowcase having had a cute trim at the hem...

Really cute! I enjoy making casing on the aprons for my children! It seems to work better as they grow :)

Cj...as of last count (2yr ago)... I had well over 130 aprons in my containers...not including the ones hanging in the kitchen, laundry room and my trailers.... lol!

Christine.... it's been awhile since I made a Springy pastel apron.... this one will be used for Easter.

I love your apron, Grace! I really hadn't thought of casing! I'll have to rethink that for my next simple apron. Thanks.
