My first consigned garment is in the hands of the owner of a local boutique for inspection. She loved it, but she has to show it to her partner before putting it out for sale. They have also asked me to bake some scones for their upcoming store festivities! Cool huh? Now if my oven could just be repaired in time!!

I think I'll do Lavender, chocolate chip and whole meal scones for their celebration to go with the herbal tea. What do you think? I'm excited about this too, because I love to bake and would someday love to have my own little Farmgirl Tearoom/bakeshop!

Fingers crossed!!

Oh, and I am going tomorrow to pick up a dining room table full of free vintage fabric. A friend of a friend's mother is cleaning out her attic and is giving this fabric away!! Do I hear....YIPPEEEE!!! She said: "Most of it looks really 60's and 70's......double woo hoo!!! I'll keep you posted! LOL

Oh, the garment is a gypsy skirt. Free form, no pattern, eight different fabrics went into the construction. This one was red. I made a green one today and I have black, blue, yellow and silver lined up ready to be made if they liked this one. It is a Metaphysical shop, and they have asked me to do a handfasting gown too. I'll post photos of the fabric when I get it tomorrow. The girl just phoned me and said that her mother will be there so I can come earlier in the day to pick it up!! Yippee! Thanks for the good wishes....fingers are crossed.

How cool! I bet you are on pins and needles waiting to hear! ;) Can I come for scones? Yum! I make lavender sugar cookies in the summer. It's such a nice, unexpected flavor. Good luck Georgann! Oh, and way to score on the fabric.

Good luck, Georgann - how could they not love something you have made?!! Wouldn't that be a dream come true? I would love to be able to sell the things I make (I used to have a craft market stall, but there are no markets where I live now). I'd love to see the skirt - sounds gorgeous!
And free fabric - lucky, lucky you!!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Thank you so much for all of the good luck wishes.....it worked!!

Fabric Update!

Well Farmgirls, I took my laundry basket over to the girl's house who had the fabric, not wanting to be greedy or anything, and when I walked into the dining room, I know my jaw hit the floor, or to coin another cliche' I looked like a dear caught in headlights or like a kid in a candy store. She just laughed and said, "I hope you don't think you are getting out of here with just that basket full." "Aw shucks," I said, "I guess I could help you out." I walked out with 8-50 gallon trash bags full of vintage and retro fabric!! SCORE!!!

Oh, my golly, I just couldn't believe it. And there are long lengths of it too........most of the fabric cuts are 3 or more yards. Some of them up to 6 yards!! It is about 50% cottons and 50% knits!! Woo hoo...thrilled to say the least.

Blogger is down for the moment for maintenance, but as soon as it is up, I'll post some photos. Gorgeous colors and the fabric is all clean...no mustiness at all!! Hmmmm....what shall I sew next? LOL

Later!! G
