Bald eagles are fairly common around here but it's always such a treat to see them "up close and personal";

This eagle was perched at the top of a very tall cottonwood tree on our property yesterday morning when my hubby and I went to feed cows. It stayed there all morning and didn't fly away until around lunch time.

It was there again this morning when we went to feed, however, it flew away a little earlier this morning. It didn't seem to be disturbed by humans walking along the road beneath the tree.

I told our neighbors, who have a very small dog running around outside about it, as that dog would be fair game for eagle lunch.
Many years ago my dad had to watch as an eagle swooped down and carried off his little dog... there was nothing he could do. I felt so bad for my dad and his dog (it was a "peekapoo"").

CJ...beautiful picture!!! Wow!!! I felt bad for your dad and his dog too! That would be a horrid sight to watch as your
pet got carried away by a huge bird. Thanks for sharing the story and the picture!

Hugs,
Peggy

How beautiful CJ. Such a blessing to see Gods creatures, while we are out and about in the yard.

What an amazing photo, Ceejay!!!! WOW!

We have them here, too. I have seen only a couple in the 20+ years I've lived here. There is a protected nesting spot not far from the house where people can go see them but we have never been.

Amazing photo, I have to say again.

Farmgirl hugs,
Nicole

The eagle was there again on the third day (yesterday) for a short while, however I haven't seen it there today.
It's warmer today so perhaps it didn't need to perch there to warm up in the sunshine.
Hope to see it again!

Great shot, he's very majestic. I had one in the field out back one day. They aren't an everyday thing here but they are on a come back
