| To all "soil" sisters out there. I found this book Natural Hair Coloring by Christine Shahin on how to dye hair incredible natural shades with three different pigments henna, cassia,and indigo. Wow I had always wondered if it could be done and this book lays it out. #128512; |

| I checked the book out from my library, but I can't borrow it forever so I'll probably buy my own copy. I am not a " gushy" person naturally but this book has got me going. Maybe it's because I thought hair coloring couldn't be truly done without harsh dyes. |

I tried henna in my thirties and all I can remember was it turned my brown hair a dark auburn with red highlights. I kinda liked it but I made such a mess with staining the towels I didn't do it again.
A little side note: One of the things I learned from Tasha Tudor's Heirloom Craft book is indigo is red until you add urine to it to turn it blue. I was wondering how I was going to work that little bit of info into a conversation.

HI Annie,
I have been dying my hair with straight henna for years. I wanted something non-toxic. The only thing I can recommend if you have ANY gray hair is to buy body art quality henna. Otherwise, it will not cover the gray. Other than that, henna is gREAT! My hair grows really quick, and it is easy to re-dye the roots. Also, henna layers, so the color gets better as it ages :). I don't have any pics on this computer, and can't figure otu how to cut & paste a pic. You can see several versions of my hair on my Instagram though.

Like Sara, I tried henna in my youth when my hair was still dark brown. It was a mess, and stinky. The henna I use now goes on easy, and once you get the hang of it, it is easy. You just have to give it time to cure, at least 12 hours, before you put it on your head. Have fun!!

Greetings: All sounds interesting! I have decided since my grey is moving in very slow, I don't believe I will color my hair at all. Being a new Farmgirl, this post is the closest I've come to my interest in natural skin care. I am wondering if there are any Farmgirls that make home made skin care items or make-up. I make a black bean oatmeal face scrub that can be mixed with honey or yogurt and have the opportunity to purchase great local hand made creams. Have not been able to find a great face powder and blush, any suggestions? Also curious what may be popular for ticks. One day of spring fever and brought a tick in with me. I used apple cider vinegar on my boots, perhaps the tick jumped on board via my gloves.
