What is something you would tell your younger self -- or ANYONE else for that matter-- that you wish you would have known earlier?

Share your wisdom!

Me? I would tell myself that it is okay to not know. It's okay to change your mind and your path. It's okay to not have it together. It's okay to be confused. It is okay. Don't let all of that turn into fear that keeps you stuck. You don't have to have it all together in order to do something great. You just have to do it.

It's OK to trust your intuition.

It's okay to say no sometimes, too. You're only one person and you aren't The One who is designated to bear all of the world's burdens. People won't die if you say no. They may whine, they may not like you, they may try their best to make you feel guilty, but they aren't going to die. And in the grand scheme of things, you can definitely live with that! ;)

It's OK to have your own opinion and voice it...just as long as you do it nicely and respectfully.
It's OK if other people don't like You! I go by the Motto "What other people think of me...
is none of my business!"
It is OK not to own the guilt others try to put on your shoulders.
You can love someone in Christ but not like them. Not every Christian will be your bosom pal. And
that is OK...it's is a big wide world...with enough friends for everyone. But you can still be united
in Christ.
Not every Mother/Daughter relationship is Great and that is Ok too. You can still be kind to each other.
No man can meet all your needs...only God can. Learning that takes a lot of pressure of your man and puts it all on God where it belongs.

OK...I'm stepping down off my podium now. LOL
Everyone has made great comments!!!

Love and Hugs,
Peggy

I would tell myself that it's okay to be perfect all the time and to not stress over the small stuff. I still find myself doing that to this day, but definitely not as bad as when I was younger.

It's also okay to take a nap once in a while! :)

(Krista - that's some of the best advice, ever!)

Krista,
I had to smile too . . . I'm a "recovering perfectionist"! My goal is to NOT strive for perfection all the time. There's a HUGE difference between doing your best and perfection!

Very much agreed, CJ. I always (and sometimes still do) found myself becoming angry when I couldn't make or do something just perfect. I have come to find that the stress is not worth it, especially when the rest of the world doesn't see it the way I do.

It's okay to be different! To do things that feel right to you, not what everyone else is doing.
Nini - taking a nap sometimes is great advice!

It's okay to let go; keep your faith larger than any fear. It's okay not to be everything to everyone all the time. It's okay to love yourself first, you should. Happiness is a choice. Choose happiness. Our perspective and attitude define who we are, maintain positive thoughts.

Brianna, I love your just do it comment. So true. So many of us hold ourselves back from our own happiness simply for being scared to try, scared to fail. When in truth, there is no greater failure than ** not ** to try at all! Love this post and thread! Thank you!

Vicki - I'm with you, sister! There is definitely great joy in taking the road less traveled. As Robert Frost wrote:

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Letting go is really hard sometimes, April, isn't it? But you are absolutely right! Sometimes it just takes a while...

It's also okay to change your mind... My goodness, don't lock yourself into a decision if it doesn't feel right! Trust and follow the promptings of your heart!

Hugs -

Nini
