OH the pain--
I'm two days in with this--Never had it quite as bad as this time round-Nothing seems to help-On Mobic for osteoarthritis (?) and that isn't doing squat. Dr.'s on vacation.
Any sufferers with some sound advice? Yoga? Stretches? Green Tea?
HELP-

Hi Melody...Oh, girl I feel your pain. Twice I have had Sciatica. The first time it lasted well over 6 months. I remember taking Tylenol regularly for the pain. I never went to the Dr. with it but it would be interesting to know what they would recommend for it. We have some Farmgirls who are Nurses/or were Nurses that might people able to tell you what truly will help. I will keep you in my prayers!
Blessings and Hugs, Peggy

Oh...had it bad when I was prego! This is what worked for me....lay on the floor with your legs on the couch. Push your back into the floor. Pretend like you are pushing your belly button into your spine. It's all about taking pressure off that nerve for awhile to give it some relief. When it's not enflamed, work on your stomach and core muscles. They are the muscles that help hold up the body so it doesn't press too hard on that nerve.

I am currently taking Mobic for osteoarthritis once a day for 14 days and this just happened to coincide with the sciatica--And, that doesn't do a darn thing.
THE STRETCHING HELPS but only temporary. I'm exhausted.

Oh Mel, that pain is horrible. My husbands cardiologist would not allow him to take Mobic, that was prescribed by another doc, for his arthritis, because of the side effects. He told him to take 1 Tylenol and 1 ibuprofen together up to 3x a day. It works like a charm when he needs it. The Mobic and ibuprofen are both anti inflammatories. You Can't take them together! Mobic is usually 7.5 or 15 mg. and is longer acting than ibuprofen. You can use ice or heat or alternate the 2. Whatever gives you relief is what works. A hot rice pack always works for me. It's a moist heat. Hope you feel better soon.
