I know this may seem like a silly question. I live in Washington and our summer has been quite cool except for this up and coming week. My husband and I planned some corn in our small garden. The ear are medium sized a little smaller than the store size... and the top fuzzy strings are brown. In the past I have open the hush a little to see if the ears are ready is this ok? I wish I remember when we planned the corn, maybe the third week in May? Any advice is welcomed.
I am from the Seattle area and applaud you for growing corn in your garden at all! Of course, Vancouver gets better gardening weather than we did up north. I would agree with Michele -- brown silks and a full feeling. You can always peel back the tips a bit, it won't hurt anything. ENJOY!!!!!
