This is my yard! It's - 12 today, warming up soon and MORE snow coming, yeah!! It's hard to believe it's so warm in other places, we're having an unusually cold winter and had heard it would be warm and wet. So this is for you Tasha...... jo

I will not post a photo of my green face and drooled upon chin....

I would KILL for snow and cold like that! I just discussed with the woman who owns the junk market I love how I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cold. Fall and Winter are my favorites. Summer and Spring have there place in my heart for the gardening, but Fall and Winter take the cake.

Catherine, isn't it sad, I don't know your age, but I assume you are right around the same as me, and I remember building forts in snowdrifts that were 6' high in my parent's yard.

Very sad. I've had 3+ decades in this state and the winters just ARE NOT like they used to be. I can taste the snow in Jo's pictures. I know exactly what it feels like and what my mittens would smell like after throwing a ball of it at my brother. My memories usually have some ice skates thrown in there too, as we were a "figure skating/hockey playing" family.

So...in a good old-fashioned Minnesota winter, you're supposed to be able to go ice skating outdoors until your toes start to go numb, then you switch to your big Moon Boots (remember those?!) so you can run around with tingling feet chasing your brother and his friends around. A few attempts at a snow hut too late in the day and a mother calling you in for dinner? Perfect. Even better if you get a cup of instant hot chocolate with a mini-candy cane hanging over the side.

Yes, I remember our good old winters. I'm trying to have fun and make new traditions for Jackson now, but there's still this little kid in me who is just really pissed off and sad that the climate has changed so much and we can't DO all of those things anymore. I always threaten that we'll have to move north...maybe I'm not threatening?

Hey Catherine...move to Utah and we will knit together...we are having one of those type winters! Not as MUCH snow as Jo has but surely the cold and we have had some good snowstorms..folks ice fishing nearby and those snow fights have been happening in MY yard. I wish you could come share it. I love winter too.

Jo- I'm jealous. This is what I miss the most by being here in the South. I grew up in Massachusetts, and my winters were always snow-filled. Now, we are lucky if we get A snowfall in a winter. And, it shuts the whole city down!! It makes me laugh, but people crowd the stores clearing off the shelves of bread, milk and every junk food known to man! Me, I like the spareness of the ONE day that we are stuck inside. I wish that my kids could experience a snow like yours just once. They would love it!

I do miss snowstorms and playing with dogs and the neighborhood children (the digging wore me out but I like the playing part)

All we have in my part of PA is rain rain and mud everywhere
