If you have a small working farm let me know. We are wanting to highlight small farms and the folks that live/work on them in the issues of Small Town Living. If you'd like to be featured in an issue, please email me.
Thanks so much!

Would you qualify a small organic set up with a few critters as a working farm? We surely work....lol

yes:0)
if you create items on your farm or sell items from the farm, or have gone from city life to the farm life, that all qualifies.
Organic living qualifies, living and enjoying the simpler ways of life qualifies. Email me and I'll let you know more about what we are looking to feature in the articles.
Thanks.

I think we qualify...definitly a working, producing farm, but still under construction..kind of but up and running by spring as we are working very hard. I was a fullfledged member of the rat race..born and raised in the heart of the city and now am completly farmgirled, and becoming totally self-sufficient homesteader...to the point of going back to wood cook stove. lol..jumped in with both feet. I will tell you more if interested.

Currently we are wanting articles on farming/small profitable working farms
/working farms that offer tours or hands on lessons/ or farms that offer
organically grown items..be it on a small scale to your local farmer's
market, or a larger scale/
and/or how folks have adapted to the small town way of living...
basically along the lines of how folks have gone from the "rat race" to the
Small Town way of living, or incorporating a more relaxed and rewarding view
of life, away from the hustle and bustle, and how they have been successful
at creating a rewarding lifestyle.(think a "how you have escaped the rat
race mentality" type of article)

Perhaps even how they have made a living with either selling items from the
farm or crafting things(for example creating a profitable crafts business or
offering a service from home)...that sort of thing.

So, if you can think of something along that line that you'd like to
offer..absolutely! yes! we can use it!

We can also use things like recipes, or craft ideas as well.

If you do decide to submit an article of any kind we ask that it be a full
typed page, to a page and a half in length, and please include at least 2
good quality/high resolution images to accommodate.

Tina,

What a great magazine you have. I would be happy to share an article with you.
I'm a herbalist and we live on a 1 acre mini farm as self sufficently as possible & improving.
We are going to be selling Medicinal Herb Shares this year in addition to the products on our site.
Let me know if you still need any & I'll get one off to you the first of the week.
Thanks!

Tina, I think that last issue was my favorite so far. What a grat job. As always, Robin is full of knowledge on anything about farming & farmers markets, love reading her stuff. Oh, I did try the pop-overs, they tasted great although mine didnt look so pretty.

she selects wool and flax and works with eager hands Prov.31:13

Tina, I'd be interested in submitting something in the future. Making the time to write something right now can't be a priority - with the garden and upcoming shows.
Forrester Farm:
-grow flowers and sell bouquets, potted herbs, container gardens, and blueberries at the
Rockford, MI Farmers Market.
-create hand crafted botanical products that are sold at art shows and various stores in the
area
-wedding flowers (will be featured in our local June Grand Gardens magazine this year).

I'll try to post a photo later of one of the shows I've done.

Frannie,
I'd love to see what you have to share. Just email it to me at gardengooseatgmaildotcom.
Write about the mission of your farm, what you are trying to accomplish, what you offer to the public, how you got started, when you got started...that sort of thing.
Also try to include at least 2 high resolution images ...preferably at least one of the farm and one or two of the products you produce.
We will include a link back to your farm website or blog.
Regular typing/spacing/normal size font.
We do all the proof reading, lay out and design....so no need to worry about that.
Really appreciate your interest and looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks so much!
Tina

another shout out for articles. Do you have a home business that is market related? (do you sell items at your local farmer's markets?) Do you make your own cheese, soaps?, etc.
We'd like to hear from you.

Let me put my thinking cap on, Tina - your magazine is SO wonderful, and I just KNOW that there are many farmgirls here with much knowledge to share. I think the "market" topic is great - I'll be excited to read the articles that you choose!

XOXO, Libbie

Tina,

We're suddenly "in the horse business"... at least that's what the old-timer's around here say when you have two horses... we went from one, to two, to three in a matter of weeks. I can do a story on that, with pics of how we're scrambling around to provide decent shelter.

Let me know and I'll put it together for you.

Tina,
Paul and I are pretty self-sustainable. Not to say we don't need jobs off the farm to pay the feed bill, utilities and taxes, but we do have a LOT of things that we grow/make ourselves so we don't have to rely on the store.

We grow 90% of our own food (milk products; beef; goat; various poultry; eggs; honey; vegetables; fruit; herbs), give farm tours to groups, teach a bunch of different things from blacksmithing to spinning, weaving to soapmaking to farming with horses and more.

We sell some items at the local farmer's market and online.

The only difficulty would be to find the time to get this on paper and submit it! Sounds like fun though.
