I have never been someone to advertise a product. I want to yell from the roof tops because this item is so wonderful I ordered indoor floor mat through plowandhearth.com. I have a huge 100 pound dog with long hair that is always making a mess of my floors when he comes in from the backyard. The people who owned my house before me but in off white carpet, I have no idea what they must have been thinking living in the country. I ordered a Dirt trapper mat it was around 40 dollars. The dog walk in the mat sucks to wet and dirt from his paws. We are all happy. You can wash the mat in the washing machine and tumble dry. I have never been so happy with a product in my life.

Oooohhh..this sounds like something I might like to look into. We have two big dogs that enter the house onto a white ceramic floor (like you, what were the previous owners thinking?!). Both are trained that they must "matt" (sit on the matt) until their paws are cleaned, but this could really help. Thanks Laura!

I just spent about 15 minutes towel drying my three english mastiffs feet ( all over 150 pounds)!!! I NEED THIS!

Wonder if it works on the male persuasion of my family? I don't believe they are even "mat trained" yet!Let alone the big goofy dog!

Holy cow Julie...what's your dogfood bill? I love mastiffs, they are such gentle Ben's of the dog world. I remember taking my then, tiny three year old to a dog show one year and her asking an owner if she could pat the dog...only Karlie would pick the biggest dog in the whole arena. The fellow let her and the dog promptly put it's head in her lap which pinned her to the wall behind her...it's legs were bigger than her thighs. The owner almost had a heart attack, but Karlie thought it was about the funniest thing in the world. Fun memories...

Oh I think they are the BEST dogs ever! We go through about 10 pounds of dog food a day! We also have a golden retreiver. I can't imagine a three year old with one of these! Our "puppy" had a head bigger than MY thigh and believe me -my thighs aint little! I think they would be super with children but they are HUGH! And to think when Thunder was born he fit in the palm of my hand!!!

Your little tid bit could not have come at a better time. As you may have read, we'll be getting another dog very soon. I got good about keeping a towell by the door-especially after a rain or snow for our other dag and two cats. The mats inside the entryway are trashed, and I'm afraid to wash them in my own washer due to all the dirt.
Among the tons of mail order catalogs, I happily do get Plow and Hearth and have been pleased w/ their stuff in the past. i may just have to give this mat a try. Thanks! |

Good suggestion Libbie! A whole house of mud resistant floors!
Our dog does not get mud on her paws, and we can't figure out how she does it!
We have 2 dogs, 1 mutt and 1 Siberian Huskey, both in the same yard with the same mud. The huskey is about 5 pounds bigger than the mutt but she will come in with mud up to her arm pits while the mutt is completely mud free! I think she closes her toes and walks lightly when it is muddy. She is rather prissy at times :) I am going to check out those mats for the huskey.

I so wish I could carpet my entire house with the stuff. I just wish my husband trained as easily as the dog. We have only been married for two years, he still needs some breaking in.

| The matt sounds wonderful, and hearing how well it works, makes me want one. My border collie is always leaving tracks as she comes in. She does sit and wait for her paws to be dryed, when told. Poor thing, she is also shower trained. My husband is tileing our shower, been doing it, or should say not doing it for almost a year now. He put in a temp. shower in the basement, made of hanging plastic. I know I should of never let him do that, but we needed the shower. Anyways we just have to tell Ruby, shower time, and down the steps she goes. You hold back the curtain, and in she goes, head hanging and tail drooping. It is pretty funny, but she puts up with it. That mat sounds really cool. Julie, I actually know someone with 9 mastiffs! My brother-in-law! They had one who is over 200 pounds and decided to get a girl to breed them, thinking they would make great money. They didn't really research their area. No one seems to want to pay what they want for them. So they have had nine (she had a litter of 7!) since September. I can't even imagine. It would be like having a whole new type of "livestock". LOL! My 60 pound black mutt seems so small now!
