Good Afternoon Ladies

I am hoping that you might be able to help me with this issue What camera do you use for web stores, blogs and such? I have had a store at my farm for the past ten years and travel all over the country with my products but I always hear why can't I purchase over the internet? Well, I am just learning how to do that and I am not always happy with the pictures I get with my camera. Since I wish the customer to fell like he is touching my yarns or have a true scense of what the fiber colors look like it is very important that the picture says more than a thousand words. If you would be so kind as to share with me the type and brand of camera you use and why you picked it I would be forever in your debt. Also, if you have any tricks or hints that you care to share that would be GREAT! I have been so impressed with the pictures you ladies have shared with us on the site I know I have some experts out there. Thanks in advance.

The one I love to use wherever I go is a Sony Sure shot. It has many different settings and I try a few before i am happy. Thanks to the digital world I can take 4 or 5 of everything just to be sure I get what I want and then delete the rest. The picture in my tag line is taken with it.

Grace- would you consider a trade for the Pussy Willow Yarn? It is beautiful and I can think of about 5 different things I could do with it. Let me know- my email is sales@blissnblossomfarm.com . Also- I am thinking of getting angora goats this spring- is it hard to learn to spin? The Urban Farmgirls are planning a beginner class I must attend!

if you have small items to photograph I would suggest doing this:
here is a tutorial for building your own light box

http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html

trust me, this idea is very, very useful! I have created my own light box using this idea.
you can then control the lighting on your product/or whatever much easier.

I use the Sony Sure Shot too. One thing I figured out was to use the portrait setting for clearer pictures. Picture quality will depend much on the kind of files you store photos as.
Tina, thanks so much for including the link to building a light box! Very helpful!

Grace, I apologize for being off-topic here; I am camera-challenged, so would be of no help! I have been wanting to ask what events you attend with your yarns and fibers? Will you be going to the Midwest Weavers Conference in June?

I am also a member of the Missouri Fiber Artists and we are always on the search for keynote speakers and instructors for our conference. If you have any information along those lines, please email me so we can "talk."

I use a Sony Cyber-shotDSC-S500. I really enjoy shooting all kinds of stuff with it, indoors and outdoors. It has so many settings but I use just basic stuff. Point and shoot. No violence please. MB

Thank you so much ladies for all your help. the light box information was great and the site will getting me going in the right direction. My youngest son is a shutter bug but he does art black and whites and is too busy with his own work to stop right now to help. I will look into your recommendations on camera picks to see what to do next. Regarding the Pussy Willow just email me privately and let me know what you might have in mind. I can not trade the one's on the site but I do have more here at the farm shop. Thanks again.

Hi Grace,
I could "never" take a good picture until I bought a Kodak Easyshare with zoom lens. I built my website myself - it took several months too - and I take all of my pictures of my Schnauzers. I think it does a really great job and I am planning on using it to do a calendar this year of my dogs.

Tina thanks for sharing - Great pictures and site. I love Schnauzers. When we lived in the city about 15 years ago I tried to get my husband to let me have one but he said the four dogs we had were enough. Now I raise Great Pry's 3 adults and 5 puppies. I also can not believe how long it takes to get things on line. The time it takes me to get a good picture and on my etsy site I could have spun two skeins of yarn. I wished I had a way to streamline this. Thanks again Tina for your assistance.

I have a Kodak EasyShare Z740. I love it. It's very user friendly, IMO.
