I guess this goes here because I am 'cleaning up'. I bought a chain saw in the fall because I wanted to trim up some pines around the house and tear out some bushes where I want to plant other things. When I told my mother I bought a chain saw she said "wow, aren't they fun!". I so laughed at/with her, but she is right. They are so much fun and make you feel so GOOD. Anyway, now with all the storm damage I have been very busy with the little saw. My daughters boyfriend came over with a huge chainsaw and took down a few broken trees. I may have to upgrade. I just came in from rassling a cypress and it is so invigorating. Hardly work, HAHA MB

I can and do use every type of power tool on the place, but that chainsaw scares the you-know-what outta me! It is large and heavy and I really never feel I'm in total control with it...and it plays for keeps if you have an accident. I would really like to get a small one with maybe a 12" blade for limbing, etc. Are they expensive??

Diane, I have 2 small (12 in.) chain saws. I have an electric one I use around the house (outside, that is) because it is quieter (more quiet) and my son-in-law got a small one at a garage for 10$. He took it home and overhauled it and it is just like new. It is gas powered. I wouldn't use a bigger one they are just too scary. You're right. I try to be careful. MB

I have been looking for one I can handle. My husband's are just too big and heavy. Last week we took advantage of the weather and walked around the orchard cutting overgrown grapevine and dead wood - I pointed to what I wanted cut, and he used the saw. I really felt bad because I didn't help more.
What brands are the two you found?
