I started to post our favorite soup recipe, but a couple of customers came in and I am just now getting back to it.
Faux Potato Soup
2 cups cauliflower pieces, cut small 1 1/2 cups fat-free reduced sodium chicken broth 3 wedges of Laughing Cow cheese -- any flavor (I like the one with the hot peppers, but onion is great, too!) Chopped green onions Reduced fat shredded cheddar Turkey bacon, browned and chopped
In a covered saucepan, cook cauliflower in the chicken broth until the cauliflower is tender. Dump the broth and cauliflower mixture into a blender, add Laughing Cow wedges, pepper to taste and I like several drops of Tabasco. Whiz the whole thing until it's smooth. Serve it topped with green onions, cheddar, and turkey bacon.
I usually have 2 slices of bacon on mine, and I use the barcode reader for the cheese, so my dinner serving is 8 SP. SOOOOOOO delicious, and this is one that His Dudeness will actually crave from time to time. It is one of our "go-to" winter dinners and we have it at least once a week. I have served it at dinner parties and nobody ever knows that it is cauliflower and not potato.

I am knocking on 25 pounds lost since the end of August. Just can't hit that magic number -- BUT I WILL!!! Down 24.2 as of this morning.

This morning's weigh-in showed me down just a tenth over 25 pounds. I was dancing through the house, I can tell you! My "official" WI is on Saturday morning, so we shall see. I am really anxious to get down into the 140s.
What's everyone doing to avoid the big holiday binge? I have been reading a lot about making cookies with the sugar-free cake mixes -- has anyone tried it?

I ate way too much but got right back on the tracking and maintained. I weigh every morning and can't believe how much better I feel without the weight. I am going to try this summer to get another 5-7 pounds off but I just know it will be a struggle I have always going into hibernation mode in the winter and gain weight.

Everything seems to point that way, doesn't it? I mean, all the holidays and all the comfort foods and I think our bodies just naturally do that when the days get shorter and the weather gets colder. It's harder to do outdoor stuff, too. We eat directly out of the garden all summer -- fresh greens, fresh tomatoes, fresh everything. Then fall comes and we have to eat from the grocery store and it's tougher. I personally stop eating tomatoes when our garden is done. The nasty winter grocery store ones taste like cardboard (or worse) to me and I don't like them. I start on apples in the fall and will eat two or sometimes three a day. They take me through until the citrus starts -- I love those little Halo guys!!! I suppose I will burn out on them, too -- maybe grapes will be next. At any rate, WW Smart Points has been wonderful!!!

We had company over for an early dinner on Sunday and the Mrs said I looked "skinny!" That was a non-scale-victory -- ha ha. Of course I didn't eat completely "on plan" at dinner -- ate a little too much, drank a lot too much...but Monday was a new day and I tracked EVERYTHING I ate even with company over, so I own it. I baked a delicious apple oatmeal bread and it figured out to be 7 points a slice. I have had exactly 1 slice! I have been slicing it up and putting it in His Dudeness' lunches.
I made a WW chili on Saturday. What has everyone else been eating to stay on track?

Last night we had leftover chili over baked potatoes -- really yummy for a cold winter night. Five points for the potato, 4 for the chili, and another 3 for shredded cheese. A nice green salad with balsamic vinegar for dressing and I was full.

So what do you put in the crockpot with the turkey breast? That sounds like something we could eat on for several days!

Bad mood and hurt feelings on Sunday. It is the one day of the week that Dude and I can spend the whole day together -- no work. Well, this past weekend he had scheduled a couple of "must do" items and it really bothered me that he did. I went back to bed after breakfast and laid there and played games on the iPad and felt sorry for myself. Finally dragged myself into the shower -- a very grey day. When he got home, we decided to go out to lunch -- we started to our favorite little coffee shop place and then on the way he said we should go to the BBQ place. We love this place, but haven't gone for quite a while -- not since summer. Of course there's not much there that's "on plan" with WW, but I seriously did NOT care. I had a nice lean buffalo burger and substituted broccoli salad for the chips -- drank only iced tea. There was bacon on that burger and I REVELED in it! Yumm. Then I tracked every single bite of it in my WW app and had zero points left for dinner, but I didn't feel a bit guilty. We were both so full from lunch that we ate fruit for dinner.
This was only the second time since I started WW that I have used any of my weeklies, so I wasn't sure how much weight I was going to gain in payment for my bad mood, but I figured it would be a lot. Imagine my tremendous surprise when I saw that I have continued to lose, lose, and lose. I am lower now than I have been in years.
So I guess the moral of the story is that I just need to stay on course and track, track, track everything. In the past, I might have let that one lunch derail me completely, but not this time. Happy Christmas, everyone.

I hope everyone has recovered from the holiday food mess. I did pretty well. Dude's daughter and husband came over Christmas Eve for our traditional grilled lobster tails dinner. We did cole slaw and corn on the cob, as well. I made the slaw so I could make the dressing a lower fat version and the tails are really not high-point at ALL! Then Christmas Day was my daughter and her family. We had decided to do just snacks instead of a whole big dinner, because neither one of us really wanted to mess with that. So we had nibbles and she brought a cookie and candy tray. I enjoyed two Christmas cookies baked by my grandson who is taking baking in Home Ec right now. Ate a few pieces of really GOOD cheese. Some fancy-schmancy jellies on bland crackers. Just relaxed and had a good time with good company and quiet. I still ended up losing and have continued to do so. It feels wonderful not to have to make up for weight I gained over the holidays! Now to get a few more pounds off before our trip to St John later this month -- I tried on swimsuits and had to get rid of the bigger ones!!!! I ordered myself a snorkel mask and am going to try snorkeling for the first time -- at 61. Life is so good.

Good for you, Nora. I have not joined yet but am almost ready to do WW online. I have SO much to lose that I am almost overwhelmed. Gotta start somewhere tho.

I am doing WW again. I need to get rid of this extra 15 lbs I'm carrying around. Not good for my back or knees. Hoping to stick with it this time.

I am a member of Weight Watchers too and I am doing the current version. Right now I am stuck at a plato weight but I keep persisting and know it will come off eventually. Glad to hear there are other members here that are members too.
Good luck to everyone.
