In a few weeks our family will be spending "vacation" working on our farm. We have access to the main hose, my FIL lives there, but will try to stay out of their hair as much as possible. The tricky part is that our 1830 cabin doesn't have power or water. The water part is the bigger issue, obviously. We could live without power, almost. I will be cooking quite a bit in the fire in my cast iron dutch oven. This week was a couple of easy meals; kraut and sausage and green beans with potatoes and bacon. Last time I made chili (dry beans). It took a while! lol! Harder to clean up, too. So any tips for me? There are 5 of us, we aren't real picky, but like well rounded meals.
Also...Any tips for coffee? I used to have a pressed pot, but the glass was broken.

Alicia, your "vacation" sounds like it will be fun and challenging! For the coffee part, you can get boil water on your fire and then get a single cup your over pieced where you place a filter and coffee and then pour over the hot water. It makes a perfect one cup of fresh brewed coffee every time in a minute or so. Many grocery stores carry the coffee holder piece that fits on your mug. They are very inexpensive too.
As to dinners, when I was young and a Girl Scout, we used to make one skillet meals over the campfire in a large cast iron skillet. You can easily make things like a beef stew using ground beef and cut up veggies of choice. Or something like easy BBQ sloppy Joe mixes and then add fresh cut up veggies to go with it. The other idea is to make individual HOBO dinners wrapped in heavy aluminum foil and place them directly on the hot coals. Each meal has meat, and veggies all together . They all sort of steam together and cook on top of the coals in about 30 minutes. It works great with chicken, humbugger patties, fish fillets and then slices of onion, potatoes, carrots or another other favorite veggies. HoBo dinners were a huge hit because they were easy, delicious and fast to make. Be sure to recycle your aluminum foil when you are finished.
