Good morning, everyone. I've been reading here for a while and subscribe to Mary Jane's magazine and have almost all of her books. I grew up in the shadows of the Green Mountains, but on the NY side, and I grew up in dairy farm country. I am the daughter of farm families on both sides. I moved to central NY for college and stayed in this area for the last 20 years. I have a little mini-farm: 8 miniature ducks, four chickens (old ladies now), and two Nigerian Dwarf goat girls. I have two cats, one 17 and one 10, and two blue budgies (parakeets). I have a two-year-old girl, as well, who delights me and makes my days bright.

I love to sew, quilt, crochet, do some knitting, embroider and make doll clothes and handmade toys. I've been a farm girl at heart since childhood. My dream is to move to a little plot of sunny land in a little sustainable house, maybe closer to where I grew up and where most of my family still lives, and quit my hectic day job. I would like to sew and craft and grow my own food and home school my daughter. My goal for the next five years is to make that dream closer to reality or an actual reality, because it's time I started living the life that I want and that keeps me happy and fulfilled! I am looking forward to reading and participating here, and I'm happy to meet everyone.

Here's a picture of my goat, Anza, peeking at me from behind a quilt I was trying to photograph:

Welcome, Elizabeth!
All I can say about your pic of Anza is Awwwwwwww!
I love driving through upstate New York!! It was very pretty in the Fall of '73!
I do most of the crafts you do..just getting into "hand made toys". I've never had goats. However, I do find them very amusing!
You will love it here!

Welcome Elizabeth! I have been reading here for quite a while myself. But, I have just really started responding! I am a farm girl at heart. I live in a town that feels a bit rural. My husband and I lived in a very small town for 3 years; way out in the country in Missouri. But, we moved back to California to be with my Mom; when she became ill. She just passed away 6 months ago. I'm glad I came back to be with her. And I'm glad I was able to find a town; that feels "a little bit country!" Your photo is adorable of Anza and your lovely quilt! I would love to get a "Mini Donkey!" Welcome to the group! Pictured here: "Violet" my Blue Silkie-she is such a sweet-heart!!! Oh, and I just joined the Farmgirl Sisterhood...#6857!!!!

Hi Elizabeth, welcome! I grew up in NY. Saratoga County area. Your goat is cute. Enjoyed reading about your place. I grew up on a farm, dad raised chickens. I guess it was inevitable I would have some too! Enjoy the forum, there are lots of great farmgirls here.

Welcome Elizabeth,

So cute you goat wanted to be in the picture too. I have one son which I never home school but then he was born with very high intelligence. I love to sew too. I have made 3 quilts. I also like to pick summer fruit and make jam. My favorite past time is to make and create art by finding old or odd stuff and finding old magazine ad. and decoupage them on cookies sheet, bug sprayer, wooden create and tin of all kinds. Just a city girl with a country girl heart.
