A friend of mine recommended "Being Home," a book of poems by Gunilla Norris. It is absolutely stunning.
Here's one I love:
Opening the Window
The window slides down on its track - swings open on its hinge - rises like the skylight. In comes the air, rushing! Suddenly inside and outside are one. This happens too fast for evaluation.
Already, before thought, I am smelling winter... cold wet earth and something astringently joyous. I am feeling winter. It is a blue cold. I am struck by it ...wakened...gladdened.
Please open me like this window to the joy that is always right here, beyond thought. Help me feel that cruel-to-my-ego, infallible love that fills me with fresh air. Jolt me open to joy.
XOXO, Libbie
