We're getting ready to buy an older (maybe 70's) Mallard camper. It was being used as a hunter camper so wasn't taken care of very well but most of it is cosmetic. I'm trying to figure out how to paint the inside of the cabinets as the old wood is not in the best condition or to my taste. Any hints on how to do a good job inside the cabinets?
Tammy, I'm not sure I can help with any suggestions. I did fix up a little trailer but that wasn't one of the issues I had. Perhaps Grace Brown . . . Tammy.. scrub the cabinets well... and use a good primer.. then I would suggest gloss latex paint for inside the cabinets.. as for the out side of the cabinets Ditto: clean, primer and paint, but you can use a satin or eggshell paint if you don 't want the cabinets to be to shiney. I know a lot of my friends are using chalk paint, but I have not tried it yet. As for scrubing (cleaning) you can use TSP (see directions on box) or you can sand w/sand paper... be sure to use a tack cloth to remove the "dust " from the sanding. Have fun!

Tammy, I wouldn't know much about this, but my suggestion is lots of sanding. I did a 4-H project where I made a campfire stump. It took a lot of cleaning and sanding.
