I needed to escape from the house today so I drove up the mountain towards Mariposa and and did some Junktiquing.. I scored 2 vtg. hand stitched quilts, and some hand stitched towels... now I am a Happy Camper!
I luv these sweet kitty tea towels...
this one is a twin size quilt...
this one is a Full size quilt... I love that the person who made these hand stitched everything... and from what I can tell, both quilts are made from fabric from the 1940's to the 50's... Oh I wish I could have meet the lovely lady (or girl) who stitched these.

WOW! Those are super great finds, Grace. Those towels are absolutely purr-fect! And the quilts - I LOVE LOVE LOVE scrappy! Do you think the quilts were made by the same person? Are any of the fabrics duplicated between them?
You done real good!

I bought the 2 quilts from the same Estate,,, so I am guessing that they were made by the same person,,, there were 5 quilts total,,, but I fell in love with these two.
here is another view.
I love that both are made from bits-n-pieces to make a scrappy quilt... some of the pieces are onlu the size of a quarter... I have not had a chance to study each piece to see if the 2 quilts where made from some of the same fabric... but I will look...

I hope someday someone will find our handiwork and be thrilled, just like we are now. Makes me want to keep on creating.

Kristi, you "hit the nail right on the head." I feel the same way.
Grace, those quilts are just beautiful! I'm trying to hand quilt a gifted queen size quilt now. (It will take me forever.) So, I really appreciate the piecing and quilting on your two. The tea towels are so sweet. Makes me want to get back to my UFO towels. Thanks for sharing. You always seem to be a "Happy Camper"!

When we are into nice warm weather I will gently hand was the quilts in a tub of mild soap and vinegar,, and then do a lavender water rinse and lay them out on the lawn to dry..... then they will go into the trailer.. or guest room... :>)

So far all I could find out,,, via a friend from the family I bought the quilts from,,, is that the 'Mother' of the man whom the quilt was from,,, made the quilt back when he was a kid,,, and he is now in his mid 70's.... which would bring it to around maybe uber late 1940's or somewhere in the '50's... but who knows how long the fabric was in the mothers stash...
