Hi Farmgirls.

I admit, I am a snacker. I eat three meals a day, but do like a snack. Usually if I haven't eaten a large breakfast, around 10 I need a little something (she says, as she takes a nibble between posts). My daughter also likes an afternoon snack, and sometimes if I am not still full from lunch, will have a snack with her. Got to thinking...what are you favorites? I try to snack healthy, but I also like tasty and crunchy.

One of our faves that I am eating now, is hummus. I am eating an organic hummus snack cup from Costco, with raw organic green beans. Love their crunch! I love the big bag at Costco that are triple washed and organic. Makes it as easy and quick as a bag of not so healthy chips. (My Kryptonite - tortilla chips ). The green beans give me that satisfying crunch.

Sometimes it's fruit. My favorites (when in season) are blueberries, plums, cherries, and right now, clementines. Love those so much!

I also eat rice cakes at times, yummy with cheddar cheese and homemade jam. Popcorn is a big hit; we make it in our Whirly Pop with organic coconut oil and top with Pink Himalayan Salt.

We like yogurt, so I buy unsweetened and put in blueberries, or a smidgen of homemade jam.

And at night, if I stay up late enough, will nibble on a bowl of cereal or oatmeal.

Are you a snacker? What are your favorites? With a teenager in the house, it is like having termites in the pantry. Would love some ideas!

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

Nicole, I'm a snacker too, but my day is up-side down to yours. No matter what time I get up I start my day with Tsp of olive oil before morning hot tea. A couple of hours later I eat my big meal of the day whether it's 6 or 10a.m.

I nibble my way through the day and stop eating around 5p.m. If I have anything after 5p.m. it usually is a bit of cheese & a couple of crackers.

Favorite snacks/nibbles: Cheese & crackers, Skinny Girl popcorn, avocado, can spinach or artichokes, French bread dunked in Merlot, a bite or two of leftover veg, meat, or pasta dish.

I have a weakness for Lay's potatoes chips so I do my best to buy just one 50 cent bag a week and eat the whole bag as soon as I get home from grocery shopping while I am resting before putting up groceries. It's my reward for getting the weekly shopping done.

Nicole, I am a terrible snacker. It’s so bad but I basically snack all day.
My favorite snack is apples and caramel. I also enjoy rice cracker mix, chips and salsa, and chocolate. Then again, if none of that is available I will snack on anything. But, this is when you can see me standing with the fridge door open waiting for something to jump out. I am probably just like your teenager, a termite!!

LOL, Kristi! I will leave potato chips alone, but there CAN NOT be a bag of tortilla chips within a ten mile radius of me. I WILL EAT THEM. All of them. Anytime, anyplace, with out salsa, with salsa...tortilla chips are KRYPTONITE.

And chocolate chip cookies. That's my other "naughty" snack. I don't eat just one. I can't help munching the DOUGH while I am baking them, Lord help me.

My DH almost needs a little "meal" after school. Soup is good. I like the organic ones from Trader Joes with the pour and serve packages for snacks. For dinners I make homemade soups.

Krista, I bet my dd would like the apples with caramel.

Sara, I love your discipline. I also like avocados as a snack. I do them the way my mom did when I was a kid: sliced in half, with lemon juice, garlic powder, and a bit of salt, eaten with a spoon. Yum!

Any other snack ideas? I've got that adorable termite, ya know...

Nicole
