I'm so very sad this morning to read about Alan Rickman's passing away from cancer. He was my favorite actor. I loved every role he played. He was so versatile that he could be the good or bad guy and still make the audience love him.

David Bowie was an incredible talent and it was very sad when he lost his battle against cancer too. So sad that this horrible disease has taken these mens lives and the lives of so many others.

News of these deaths also hit me hard this week. "Space Oddity" will not quit playing in my mind and how can Professor Snape be gone? The age of 69 is creeping up on me faster than I'd like....

I'm with you girls on this one...Professor Snape??? Sad, Sad, Sad!!!

Also David Bowie...such an icon gone way too soon! My dad was 69 when he died
too and I thought that was just way too young back then.

Cancer is the "C" Word we all hate to hear! We need a cure...like yesterday!!!

Sharing your heartfelt grief too,
Peggy

We had just watched "Quigley, Down Under" on TV right before Christmas . . . starring Alan Rickman (a "bad" guy) and Tom Selleck.

Yes, "young guys"! I see that David had just had a birthday and Alan's was coming up in February.

I'm with you Dawn. I was sad about Bowie but Alan Rickman really hit me. Me and my mom always call him Colonel Brandon whenever we see him in anything (referring to Sense and Sensibility). Of course Snape also. He was just the perfect Snape. :(

Going to miss Alan Rickman and the wonderful actor he was. Colonel Brandon was my favorite. His voice was unmistakeable. Cancer is a nasty that has hit close to home for us. Both of them and many others gone to young.

I am very saddened by Alan Rickman’s passing. He was such a wonderful Professor Snape. He will be greatly missed. Cancer is such a terrible thing. One day we will find a way to cure it.

I'm with you ladies. So sad. Bowie was definitely an icon. For me he will always be the Goblin King. But, Alan Rickman felt more personal. I fell in love with him as Colonel Brandon, and loved to hate Snape.

What a shocking week! The Alan Rickman news was such a shock! Both my daughter and I loved his role in Harry Potter. Sad week indeed!

I was sad about David Bowie. Nothing makes you feel older than the stars you admired as a teenybopper! Then when Alan Rickman, passed that was odd that he was 69 too. Also, the actor who portrayed Grizzly Adams died this week, too. When I worked at a doctor's office, more people died in January than any other month. One of the doctors said he believed people wanted to make it through the holidays. I don't know if that's true or not, but there's been a lot of talent lost in 2016 already.

My favorite movie with Alan Rickman is still the role as Col. Brandon, too.

Nicole

I agree Nicole, there has been an alarmingly high rate of people passing already this month. It makes sense I guess that those who are seriously ill do their best to hold on until after the holidays are over with. It is very sad though for all who have lost a love one when the year has barely begun.

And, Celine Dion's husband, Rene, died as well. He was in his 70's and it was cancer with him as well.

So, so sad. First Natalie Cole, then Rickman and Bowie... Then Celine Dion's husband Rene. I know that good things don't last forever, but it seems the stars never shine long enough...
