I live in a very large house and would for the most part just like some company and help sometimes, a little extra cash wouldn't be bad either. I have no idea how to go about this. I live in a very small town and think it would have to be some one who wants to relocate.
I guess I need a Christian Mingle for room mates. Not ready to advertise for a roommate in the paper.
Any Ideas

I watch a lot of Judge Judy and her advice would be have a lease and write everything down you want & expect. It would help to prevent a misunderstanding as time passes. We never know someone until we live with them and then we really don't know them until it all goes bad.
I'm not trying to discourage you because I think it is a very good idea. I want you to protect yourself and go into an arrangement with your eyes wide opened.

Shannon and Sara's advice were both good. Keep us posted. Good luck. Marly

How lovely of you to offer your home to someone who may really need it, you never know how it might change someone's life Being open to possibilities often brings the answer around.

I agree with Sara. I love to watch Judge Judy and those other court shows and I have learned you need to always cover your back. It’s best to always have expectations written down, signed, and dated by both parties. I think it’s great that you want a roommate. Maybe ask around with family and friends and see if they know of anybody looking for a place to stay.

Perhaps you should be specific about asking for a roommate around your age and shares your interests. Good luck!

Dawn really not needing to be my age as it still takes some one younger to do some of the stuff I need done some times. I wouldn't even mind a single Mother needing help I love kids and have a great place for kids to grow up at.But I hear more horror stories than best thing I have ever done stories and I really need to have a way to screen this person. I do need to make sure they are ok around my Grands and my DH.

I think it's possible to do background checks online, but I've never tried it. A lease is definitely a good idea, and a month-to-month lease gives you some wiggle room if you encounter any issues. I like Shannon's idea about using churches as a starting point. Maybe put a note in some church bulletins in your town?
