Hi I am Kangaroo Kate. Have been a farm girl (#1506) for a few years but have not been on here hardly for past 4. Life throws curves at us that we don't like but now I am reclaiming my life back thought I would reintroduce myself.
I am on dialysis have been on it 10+ years) we are trying again to get me on the transplant list long story there. ha I have been through hell and now I am looking to heaven to give me back what I once had. I am taking back my farm girl heritage and it feels great!!
I had to store my 46'' floor loom the past 20 years.. should not of ever happened but it did and now I about have it restored and will get back with my old friend once again. I love to quilt I have my own style making orginal designs have made several and gave away to friends. I got a spinning wheel 4 years ago and just now going to learn to spin. life is good. I am a herbalist and getting back to my natural ways in spite of what drs say. lol Am in process of learning to make homemade soap from my mom she makes the best soap. Due to being sick I recently had to shut down my petting zoo and pony ride business which was hard but my focus now will be with my wallabies. yep I have little kangaroos so now you know how I got the name kangaroo kate. I have 8 in my mob right now hope to get the usda license back soon and begin selling them again. I get a huge demand for joeys. They are my total joy. I also have a llama, friendly turkey and 2 spoiled hen girls. I am going to start soon on writing a childrens picture book I keep busy.
I am happy to be getting back with other farm girls and get my life back what I used to enjoy. I love to hear your stories and learn what all of you are doing. One thing I had to give up and miss are my goats.. love goats! would love to hear about your goats.

Hi Kangaroo Kate. Well, your story is one of both Heartache and Hope isn't it? I pray that that you get that much needed Kidney transplant. I have Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue myself. It slows me down but just like you...I came to that point where I decided that my illness was NOT going to define me. So, now I do what I want and can...even if it means I have to take 3 days to recoup from my fun. At least on those 3 days I have a smile on my face and in my heart and Life is good. I am NOT a true farmgirl but a farmgirl wanna-be. I live in an Apt. with my hubby and one Scottish Terrier name Snickers. I am a grandmother and adore my grandbabies. They are my life's delight. You get that children's picture book written and I will buy a copy. I love to read to my grandkids. ~ Well, some other farmgirl will have to share her goat stories with you. I am allergic to all Farm Animals...isn't that the saddest most pathetic thing you've ever heard? LOL Oh, well...it is what it is!!! Does your mom make goatsmilk soap? That is my favorite kind...so nice! Well, nice to chat. If you want to join us over on the Virtual Porch go to A Farm of my Own and then click on the first thread with a lot of pages posted. Hi Kangaroo Kate! It is so lovely to meet you! Growing up, a friend of mine and her parents had a mix of animals, including kangaroos and/or wallabies. They were so sweet! I found it astounding that they had them!!! I will certainly be praying for you!!!

Welcome back, Kangaroo Kate! What an interesting life you have! I'll be praying that you get your transplant. In the meantime I can't wait to hear about your spinning and weaving endeavors! And your critters.

Welcome! Your story is so interesting! I've had the opportunity to pet a kangaroo twice in my life: once, someone rented a petting zoo for a birthday party and brought in a full sized kangaroo (in the living room). My daughter was too young to drop off at birthday parties, so I stayed. He was as tall as me but soooo soft. Second time was last year at a county fair. Love them. I think they are interesting creatures.
It sounds like you are on track to getting back to your farmgirl roots. Happy quilting! Your loom sounds nice.

Bit delayed but want to thank all you sisters who gave such nice welcome to me. It is good to be back! hope to make some new friends.
someone asked if my mom makes goat milk soaps... not yet but she is about to give it a try soon. I have not used any store bought soap for ? years she keeps me supplied. It is about time I learn how to do it myself. lol anxious to see how it turns out.
hope to post some photos one of these days of my mob (wallabies) I found out I now have 2 joeys in the pouch. I have 3 girls they were unplanned. lol Quigley figured out how to get to the girls side one day and well he took care of business. lol I was holding off breeding for a while. just pray they are girls don't need more boys I have 5 right now! cant sell 3 of them until get the usda license back. one boy I got fixed he will stay here with his family. other is my main boy (Quigley) such a sweetheart!! come about june it will get real busy around here with babies to bottle. one of my favorite times... sleep deprevation is a way of life. ha ha I know some of you with farm animals have had your moments with bottle babies.
