Update: I figured out what kind or mushroom-egg it was! I thought I pulled all of them out, but missed a few and one erupted into a foul-smelling, tentacle-clad fungus, known as a Columned Stinkhorn. My pregnant nose is NOT happy about it, but from what I've read, they're not poisonous, just unpleasant. I guess that's what I get for not realizing my garden would be in the shade of our house all fall and winter! Anyone know a good way to rid your garden of unwanted fungus? The roots/mycelia have completely inundated part of my garden.
