I don't write a lot about MS except to say I deal with fatigue on a daily bases, or to explain why I no longer can read long passages, or do things perfectly. There are times though when something happens that I wish to talk about. Today is one of those days.

One thing I want y'all to understand about MS is that symptoms may occur ~ go away ~ only to come back years later. Today as I was sautéing ground beef on the stove my vision dimmed. I first checked the overhead light to see if one of the bulbs had burned out. It was okay.

I knew what was happening because I had experienced dimming of my eyesight over ten years ago. I wasn't frightened because I knew it would lift and my vision would be bright again. I finished cooking the beef than sat until thirty or so minutes later my vision was okay. I will continue to stay quiet today because past experience has taught be that's the best way to deal with these occurrences.

Thanks for listening to me. I don't tell my family because their first reaction is for me to see the doctor. There's nothing to be done. If I went to the doctor every time I had a weird symptom I would have to camp out on her doorstep. I am okay and feel a lot better for having talk with you. FarmGirl sisters are the best.

When you sit to process/sort and put to rest a health scare, those who love you (and that includes us) can be there in an imaginary hug. You're right, the fanfare of alerting those around you and going to the doctor seems to interfere with your ability to transport yourself to a better place about it--mustering your immune system. In other words, hugs Sara.

Sara,
Thanks for trusting us, your farmgirl sisters, with sharing. I am dealing with entirely different health challenges, but I do understand your tactics! Sometimes we just know what we need to do.
Hang in there and remember we're here for you!

I'm sorry to hear you have MS Sara. My sister was diagnosed with it about 20 years ago. She has her good days, her "rocky" days, and her really bad ones too. I pray that your vision and symptoms will settle down and back to normal, hopefully for good.

Sara, you are always quick to offer prayers for others here. You always have encouraging words and wise advice. What a true and strong farmgirl you are!

It's our turn to love on you. I am quite impressed with the amount of peace that exudes from your words. You don't seem frantic. How amazing that you have the strength to just accept the dimming of your vision and keep on cooking.

I know from other posts of yours that your faith is your anchor. God's love certainly shines through you.

Sara, my hugs come with a warm quilt attached. I sympathize with you. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia today my right knee gave out several times. Just sitting calmly and trying to relax is the best I can do. Love you kid, take care.

Bonnie, we that deal with chronic pain or other symptoms do seem to handle it better when we give our bodies plenty of rest and strive for peace in our lives.

Hugs right back to you. Hope you have a little dab of handwork close by when you are just a sitting and a thinking.

Sara- thank you! I believe God is using your situation to help others- including me. This is the first time I have read this thread, and I needed it! I am an overachiever... And push through and fight back as much as I can... They thought I had MS years ago as I dealt with optic neuritis reversed with steroids multiple times,as well as spending time in a wheelchair due to not being able to move anything below my hips. Most of those symptoms went away with my pregnancy (s), which is interesting since they consider using pregnancy hormones as a treatment. Now I deal with fibro. And my answer is always to push back and fight... Which works until I can't... Until I break and the sence of being overwhelmed envelopes me in depression. And then I stop... I shut down and barely function.. Until my body gts the rest and quiet it is so desperately screams out for. How different my life would be if I were to learn from you... That when my body starts showing symptoms, rather than pushing and fighting through, I stop to rest and to pray... To keep my focus on Him.

(((Hugs))) my friend! I pray you have more good days than bad and that you continue to listen to your body. Thank you for teaching/reminding me that it is okay.. And right... To rest in Him when I need to!

Shannon, I read what all you do for your family and others and I wonder how you manage it all. I'm glad you found this thread and my words helped you to look at things a little different. Remember your family is depending on you and you only have one body, mind, and emotions. Yes, the Lord does share his peace with us.
