I have bunches and bunches of wild mint hanging from my ceiling drying. It smells wonderful.
The wild mint was a surprise find.
Last year, I cleared dead trees and debris from about half an acre of our property. Over the summer, these 4 foot tall weeds were growing everywhere and I was going to cut them down, but my bees from my hive were loving the flowers. So, I left them.
I went to look closer at the type of weed they were and they're not a weed at all. They have the mint specific square stem and the stem is a deep purple. I couldn't believe it when I realized what gold I had!
I'll be curious to taste my honey and see if it has a minty taste!

What a great find! Mint does have a tendency to take over an area though. But if you like it and can do something with all of it then it is a wonderful thing.

Julie, I have made some tea with the fresh leaves. It was very smooth and light. It's a different taste than other mints I've grown. I've grown spearmint, apple mint, chocolate mint, etc... This wild mint has a flavor and an aroma that's a cross between mint and basil.
I'm thinking I'll add the dried leaves to potpourri or boil them on the stove as a house freshener.

oooh! speaking of Basil,,, I just read it has great health benefits. and should add a sprig of Basil to your hot tea... hmmm, I am thinking a mix of Basil and Mint would make for a great crisp flavored tea....

Let us know if your honey has a minty flavor. I've never seen minty honey before and am curious about how it tastes.

What a wonderful find, Catherine. Speaking of Basil.... I HAD a huge pot of basil just about ready to cut. Too late, the deer ate all of it! I must remember not to leave it out on the porch. Marly

We have a plant with minty smelling leaves , when they are crushed. It grows wild and can be invasive. It has woody stems and tiny red flowers, which are popular with humming birds, butterflies and bees. They die, or should I say they drop their leaves at frost, but I must break or cut the woody stems. I always say that God is a much better gardener than I am because in the fall those red blooms and his small wild sunflowers are beautiful together.

I wonder if you could make a room freshener with it. What a lucky find.
