It is very hard to believe that 9/11 happened 14 years ago. It was a very surreal day for us all and heartbreaking for those who lost someone in those terrible attacks. My prayers and thoughts go to those we lost and for those who remember them. My husband's cousin, Daria was only 28 when she was killed that day in NYC. Her parents fell completely to pieces losing their only child. They were 3 of the many innocent victims who's lives were forever changed.
Please pray this never happens again here or anyplace in the world.

We cannot and should not EVER FORGET what happened that day. I knew no one personally who was lost
that day but that doesn't change the fact that it horrifically impacted my life forever and the lives
of every American. But that day 14 years ago today also made us a more resilient Nation as Patriotism
was reborn and America learned just how strong She truly was.
Please Take A Minute or Two through-out this day and remain silent in honor of the brave men, women
and children who lost their lives that day. If you are a Christian please offer up a prayer or two
of Thanksgiving...for the fact that God did many miracles through people that day. It was a day of
both heartbreak and amazing acts of bravery.
God, please bless America again! We are "One Nation Under God" but we have drifted so far away from YOU!

Dawn: THANK YOU for posting this thread. It is such a sad day. I believe we should never forget. I am watching the shows about 911. It is still so sad. I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you Marly and Peggy Ann. I can't watch the shows, I find them too heartbreaking. Everyone by me has been talking this week about where they were when the terrible events of that day began to unfold. I have praying off and on during this day of remembrance.

Dawn, I am so sorry to hear of your husband's cousin and her family. So heartbreaking.
I still get chills and sadness thinking about it. I live not too far from NYC, and we were "regulars" at the restaurant Windows on the World. My husband and I used to go for lunch several times a month there as a young couple on our days off. I can still see the waiter's face who always automatically brought me an "iced tea no sugar" when we sat down, and the lady who worked in the bathroom as the towel maiden that I would always chat with. I still wonder if they were working that day, though I know they probably were. They were young like we were back then. Just the week before 9/11, maybe three days before, I had lunch there at WOTW with my husband and two high school friends from Texas that were visiting with their husbands. There is a photo of the me and my two friends at the restaurant. The photos did not get processed before the towers came down. Also, we had walked around the block, and stopped and chatted with the firemen, and my friend took a photo of the firemen that had been washing the fire engine at their firehouse. They all perished. I have many friends here in CT that knew or lost loved ones and co workers. We saw the first plane from Boston that day pass overhead on its way to NY. We thought it was too low to the ground, and flying funny. Little did we know. It was just too close to home, and I always feel sadness about the day. Also, my husband's favorite cousin passed away in Denmark on the one year anniversary. He was a fireman and they were doing a training exercise in response to 9/11, and he did not make it out in time. Sad day.
I always talk to my daughter about it, and will never forget that day or the lives lost. My prayers are with those who lost loved ones.

Dawn, thank you for starting this post. I'm truly sorry for your husbands cousin's loss. This day shall never be forgotten. I have taken time for moments of silence and prayer. I think about what happened on this day a lot. Prayers to all.
